We have started a wonderful new tradition here at Riverbend—Open Art Studio! 🎨 Every Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., our Engagement Team transforms the art room into a creative space filled with inspiration. We set up a variety of art and craft stations, each with a sample project to spark ideas, but residents are always encouraged to create at their own pace and let their imaginations lead the way.

Open Art Studio has become so much more than an art engagement. It’s a place to relax, unwind, express yourself, and enjoy meaningful conversations with friends and neighbors. Whether you’re painting, crafting, or trying something completely new, there is no right or wrong way to create.

We are incredibly proud of how this engagement has grown and the creativity it has inspired throughout our community. We can’t wait to see all of the beautiful artwork and unique creations that continue to come from this special Friday tradition.

Despite the pouring rain outside, we brought the islands indoors for an unforgettable "Taste of the Tropics" celebration! 🌴

Residents enjoyed an island-inspired menu featuring pulled pork, coconut shrimp, bacon-wrapped pineapple, guava cheesecake, and key lime pie cheesecake. With tropical sangria in hand, reggae music filling the room, and plenty of dancing, everyone escaped to warmer weather through all five senses.

It was an evening filled with laughter, delicious food, wonderful company, and memories that proved you don’t need sunshine to enjoy a trip to the tropics! ☀️🍹

Residents who reside in our Reflections Memory Care Neighborhood enjoyed a summer outing to Salem Willows! 🌊🍦

They took in the ocean views, shared memories of childhood visits and finished the afternoon with ice cream.

The outing was made even sweeter as we celebrated twin sisters Jean and Joan on their birthday! 🎉

Our Silent Art Auction & Cocktail Party drew an incredible turnout in support of Riverbend’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s team! 💜

Guests browsed resident paintings, handmade jewelry, greeting cards, baby quilts, handcrafted bowls and artwork donated by local artists while enjoying our signature Lavender Margarita.

Thanks to the generosity of residents, families, associates, artists and members of the local community, we raised nearly $1,000 for our Walk team!

Thank you to everyone who donated, attended and helped make the fundraiser such a success.

Our residents residing in our Reflections Memory Care Neighborhood enjoyed a very special visit from Goldy's Farm Animal Sanctuary, an organization dedicated to rescuing animals and providing animal-assisted therapy to seniors across New England. We were delighted to welcome a terrier, a gentle Great Dane, two goats, a pig, and a miniature horse to our courtyard!

Animal therapy offers so many meaningful benefits for individuals living with dementia. Interacting with animals can help reduce anxiety, spark conversation, encourage social engagement, and evoke cherished memories while providing comfort and companionship. The simple act of petting an animal can bring a sense of calm, joy, and connection- often reaching our residents in ways words cannot.

Chef Jeremy is serving up swordfish tips with plenty of fresh flavor! 🐟🌿

In the latest episode of our Healthy Meals, Happy Minds chef series, Chef Seth Gooby visits The Residence at Orchard Grove, where Senior Restaurant Director, Chef Jeremy, prepares swordfish with olive oil, garlic, lemon juice and fresh basil picked from the residents’ garden.

Paired with basmati rice, a vegetable medley and garden salad, the finished dish brings Mediterranean-inspired flavor to the table while offering nutritional benefits like omega-3s that support heart health.

Our Grow & Gather Gardening Club has been busy caring for our beautiful garden throughout the summer! 🪴🌸

Their work is paying off. Last week, our culinary team used fresh basil picked right from the garden in dinner for residents.

A huge thank you to all of our gardeners for the time and care they put into keeping everything growing. We can’t wait to see what they harvest next!
