❓ FAQ FRIDAY: Why do I wake up with a stiff neck?
You went to bed feeling fine. You woke up feeling like turning your head requires a full-body rotation. 😅
What happened?
There isn't always one simple answer. Neck stiffness in the morning can be associated with several factors, including:
🛏️ Your sleeping setup: Your pillow and sleeping position may affect how comfortable your neck feels overnight.
💻 Your daytime habits: Long periods in one position or repetitive activities may contribute to neck discomfort.
💪 Muscle tension and other factors: Your symptoms may have more than one contributing cause.
So, what can you do?
Start by paying attention to your sleep setup, changing positions throughout the day, and keeping up with comfortable movement.
If the stiffness keeps returning, persists, or gets worse, consider getting evaluated to help determine what's contributing to it.
If neck pain is accompanied by a severe headache, fever, significant injury, new weakness, or other concerning symptoms, seek prompt medical attention.
