UCI Health is now enrolling participants at risk for for a new clinical trial.
UCI Health Cardiologist, Ailin Barseghian, MD, is leading a study to evaluate the effects of an investigational CT cardiac imaging guided care strategy vs the current standard approach of the risk factor-based prevention strategy in populations with type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, and/or metabolic syndrome (with more intensive treatment in those found to have more atherosclerosis).

To qualify for the study you:
• Are a man ≥ 55 years of age or a woman ≥ 65 years of age
• Have diabetes, prediabetes, and/or metabolic syndrome
• Have no known cardiovascular disease

It was inspiring to see community members show up regardless of weather and it really showcases the commitment to the health of our community. Team members handed out freebies alongside Max from UCI Stem Cell Research Center to promote awareness of the clinical trials here at UCI!
