Having regular bowel movements is essential for proper detoxification and optimal health. While having bowel movements anywhere between 3 times per week to 3 times per day is generally considered normal, having less than daily bowel movements is not optimal.
Ideally, we should have at least 1 to 2 bowel movements every day. Daily bowel movements help clear toxins and wastes out of the body and encourage optimal health.
Here are three preliminary steps to help with regular bowel movements:
🚰 Stay hydrated. As a rule of thumb, minimum daily water requirement is half your body weight in ounces (for example, if you weigh 140 lb, you’d need minimum 70 oz of water per day). This amount includes other water-containing fluids and non-caffeinated non-alcoholic beverages like herbal teas as well.
🥗 Eat enough fiber every day. In general, adults should aim for minimum 30-40 grams of fiber per day.
🏃♀️🏃Move your body daily. Regular exercise helps keep the everything moving, and aids in proper movement of the digestive system as well.
