Sisterhood comes in so many shapes and forms, through friendships and family and sometimes, if you’re lucky, the intersection of both.
I met my “Dan” when I was barely a year old, and she’s been my best friend since the moment I became her big sister. Feeling extra grateful for you today, Little 🤍

Everything I am is because I am loved and held by the women that came before me, especially my mom. These are the women that have taught me how to be a mother by mothering me.
Everything meaningful in my life leads back to the ones that made me a mama. They are absolutely menaces, complete sweethearts and I wouldn’t trade them for anything, ever.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the women that lift each other up today and everyday. I’m perpetually in awe of all of us.

saw my oldest friend on sunday.

she’s been my person since we were 3 years old.

we’ve been through every version of each other — the versions that were figuring it out, the versions that fell apart, the versions that rebuilt, the versions we’re still becoming.

and i left that afternoon feeling something i don’t always have words for — even as a therapist.

put back together.

there’s a specific kind of rest that comes from being with someone you have never had to manage yourself around. no performance. no editing. no wondering how you’re landing. just showing up exactly as you are and being completely received.

that’s not a small thing. that is actually the thing.

we talk a lot about healing in terms of the work — the therapy, the journaling, the inner parts, the hard conversations with ourselves. and that work is real.

but don’t sleep on the medicine that lives in a 2 hour yap session with someone who has known you since before you learned to hide.

tend those friendships. show up for them. they are doing something for your nervous system that no modality can fully replicate.

who is that person for you? you don’t have to name them — just hold them for a second.

they are the medicine. chi, you are my medicine 🤍

your inner critic isn’t trying to destroy you. it’s trying to keep you safe.

in IFS, we call it a manager part — and its whole job is protecting you from a pain it decided (a long time ago) was too much to feel.

so before you try to silence it or shame yourself for having it, try getting curious.

ask it: what are you scared will happen if you stop?

that one question can change everything.

this is the work. it’s not about “fixing” yourself, it’s about getting to know yourself, honestly and deeply. it’s about embracing all of yourself.

drop a 🤍 if your inner critic has been loud lately.
