Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's Staff Denim Day Contest and to all who wore denim in solidarity with survivors of sexual violence. Denim Day is a powerful reminder that clothing is never consent. Through your support — whether a thoughtful contest submission or simply wearing denim — you helped send the message that victim-blaming has no place in our community, and that survivors deserve to be believed, supported, and met with compassion.

It was a very close call this year, and we are truly impressed with the creativity that every department that entered demonstrated in their submission. Without further ado, here are your 2026 Denim Day Contest Winners:

🥇 First Place — UCI Counseling Center
🥈 Second Place — UCI Latinx Resource Center
🥉 Third Place — LGBT Resource Center

Congratulations to our winners! CARE will be reaching out to arrange your well-deserved prizes.

CARE's commitment to fostering a campus culture rooted in respect, accountability, and healing doesn't stop at one day. Thank you for being part of this community and for continuing to show up for survivors. We can't wait to see what everyone brings next year!

✨ THANK YOU! ✨

The UC Irvine CARE office would like to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who made Take Back the Night 2026 such a powerful and unforgettable night. We were overwhelmed by the love, energy, and commitment shown by our entire UCI community and beyond.

We had an incredible turnout with 450+ attendees and 48 departments & organizations represented — including 21 student-led booths, 12 community resource booths, and 13 UCI department booths. A special thank you to our keynote speakers, our amazing performers — from our folklórico dancers to our drummers, vocalists, and so many more — to everyone who set up a booth, led the march, and shared their voice during the speak out. Every single one of you helped raise awareness about sexual violence and honored the strength of survivors.

Thank you to our students, staff, UCI departments, and off-campus partners for showing up and standing together. This night exists because of you.

This annual event is held every April in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. If you missed it this year, we hope to see you in April 2027!

Join us for a guided discussion of Twilight on Thursday, May 7th from 5-6:30 p.m. in the Verano Community Center Multipurpose Room!

We will watch key scenes from the film and examine how stalking, boundary violations, and other problematic behaviors are often portrayed and romanticized in popular media. Through guided discussion, residents will be invited to reflect on these moments, explore how media representations can shape real-life understandings of relationships, and consider what healthy boundaries and consent look like in practice. Pizza will be provided while supplies last. Register on ZotSpot. Link is in our bio.

Take Back the Night is tomorrow evening @ 6 PM, Ring Road by the Flag Poles.

For tomorrow, let's all please remember:
– Take Back the Night will be hard for many people, be gracious and check on your friends.
– It’s okay to not be okay. It’s okay for other people to know you are struggling. We are all human.
– Be kind to yourself; if you are doing your best, that's enough.
– Healing takes time; try to be patient.
– If things get complicated or overwhelming, do what is best for you. Take a minute to breathe. Eat some food. Get some rest. You deserve it.
– Things might seem bad right now, but they won't always be. Better days are ahead. Just keep pushing.
– Don't be afraid to seek support. You can call CARE at 949-824-7273.
