Can we talk about why everyone is SO exhausted, uncomfortable, over-it, canât-sleep, swollen, irritable, and desperate at the end of pregnancy⌠that they feel the need to do something about it? đľâđŤ
Of course youâre tired. Youâve been growing a human for 9+ months. Your organs are squished. Your sleep is trash. Your pelvis feels like itâs held together with loose rubber bands. You canât breathe, canât roll over, canât eat a normal meal, and you p*e every 12 minutes.
Youâre not broken. Youâre not weak. Youâre not failing.
Youâre just⌠very, very pregnant.
But instead of support, rest, and reassurance, the message becomes:
⨠âHave you tried inducing labour?â
⨠âWalk more.â
⨠âBounce on a ball.â
⨠âEat this.â
⨠âDrink that.â
⨠âDo this trick that totally worked for my cousinâs hairdresser.â
As if the solution to being exhausted is⌠more work.
Hereâs the thing no one really talks about:
Late pregnancy is supposed to slow you down.
Your body is literally forcing you to conserve energy for one of the biggest physical events of your life. That deep, bone-level fatigue? Itâs not a sign you should push harder, itâs a sign you should rest.
Labour will start when your body and your baby are ready. Not when youâre bored. Not when youâre uncomfortable. Not when everyone else is tired of waiting.
Yes, the last weeks feel endless.
Yes, you may be completely over it.
Yes, you might cry because your socks donât fit.
But you donât have to hustle your way into labour.
Youâre allowed to nest.
Youâre allowed to nap.
Youâre allowed to say no to plans.
Youâre allowed to protect your energy.
This isnât laziness.
This is biology.
So instead of asking, âHow can I make labour start?â
What if we asked, âHow can I be supported while I wait?â
Because sometimes the bravest, hardest, most powerful thing you can do at the end of pregnancyâŚ
is nothing.
