Really loving this image (comes from the WHO) to demonstrate flattening the "infodemic curve." But I recommend reading this article: https://towardsdatascience.com/what-about-flattening-the-infodemic-curve-a19ccac7199a which explains "fake news" and how it's spread online:
"-The primary device they (people who access news online) are getting their news through is their smartphone.
-The primary platform they are reaching most of their news through is social media.
-The primary mindset with which they approach news is now passive."
So what does this mean in simple terms? You can stop getting your news through social media, use alternative sources (think research studies, discussions with qualified professionals, books, even Podcasts!) and be ACTIVE in your own research. Be aware of confirmation bias (where you automatically accept new information that conforms to your current beliefs) and be open to alternative ideas!
I mainly share this because of the amount of misinformation that is spread regarding all health-related issues (diets, immune system, viruses, supplements, lifestyle behaviors).
Which type of person are you? Do you automatically believe and share a headline? Or are you more curious and cautious of the information you're exposed to on a daily basis?

Loving this information on GMO food here in the U.S. from @ Oldways ! Check it out.

In 2011, a controversial doctor published a book alleging that genetically modified (GMO) wheat is the reason that Americans are fat and sick. Americans, many of whom were frustrated with their weight and with their health in general, were all-too-happy to stumble upon this scapegoat. There was just...

Ever wonder about Mercury in seafood but not sure where to start? Here is a snapshot of NRDC's mercury wallet card guide. You might be surprised about some of the "high mercury" fish on here! (https://www.nrdc.org/sites/default/files/walletcard.pdf).

Seafood that is LOW in Mercury and HIGH in Omega-3's include: Anchovies, salmon, rainbow trout, sardines, herring, po***ck, and the Atlantic mackerel, oysters.

STRESS is already so common in our modern-day world ... but right now, it seems to be at it's all time highest with everything that is going on. Here are the stress management resources from Helpguide.org .. explore the website a little further though, because there are also sections for several other mental health conditions (ADHD, depression, grief and loss, and so on).

In small doses, stress can help support energy and focus. But when itโ€™s chronic or overwhelming, it can damage your health and productivity. Learn the warning signs and how to protect yourself.

It has been brought to my attention recently that it is quite common for many people to chronically use PPI's (proton pump inhibitors). Chronically means for several months at a time, or even years. Ideally, PPI's should be used for a short amount of time (such as 6-8 weeks) OR as needed (when symptoms occur). I also want to educate that chronic use of PPIs can interrupt with proper digestion of specific nutrients such as calcium, b12, folate, and magnesium, and increases your risk of C. diff, bacterial overgrowth, and even gastric cancer. Common symptoms of b12 deficiency is tingling in the hands and feet. Calcium deficiency leads to increased bone fractures.
PPIs work to reduce stomach acid, which in the short term can be beneficial. However, a healthy amount of stomach acid is needed in the long run for several different reasons. I wanted to share this information as I have come across (too many!) overusing PPIs and as a result experience several consequences for doing so!
Common PPIs include:
omeprazole (Prilosec)
lansoprazole (Prevacid)
dexlansoprazole (Dexilant)
pantoprazole (Protonix)
esomeprazole (Nexium)
rabeprazole (Aciphex)

I NEVER liked up until recently. I am a true example of how taste buds can change based on mindset and consistently trying things. Growing up I only wanted chicken tenders and fries whenever we ate out. Iโ€™ll never forget the day I said to my husband (then boyfriend) as I added mushrooms to my meal, โ€œI really donโ€™t like mushrooms.. but I know theyโ€™re good for you so I want to like them.โ€ This was 5 years ago and I freaking love mushrooms now. My point is donโ€™t stop trying things. You donโ€™t want to miss out on some of the most amazing flavors (and experiences) due to stubbornness. Trust. Me. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ
