In AEDP, we talk about being a “glimmer detective,” on the lookout for growth, change, lightness. In the Plum Village Tradition of Buddhism, we talk about the non-toothache moments and the importance of slowing down and noticing them. Whatever words we want to use, nature always offers me an abundance of those moments. They are my opportunities to practice the art of noticing and they offer a counterbalance when the world is big, heavy, dark, painful. In the spirit of practicing, here are some simple moments from my walk to my house to my car to my office- a new pumpkin flower, growing in an overgrown bed in the middle of a giant industrial parking lot and a new Shaggy Mane mushroom friend, showing up in the long-awaited rain.
What are your glimmers today?
