Meet Alley Gean, BSN, RN, Nurse at Segars Clinic! 👋

Alley is one of the newest faces at Segars Clinic, and she's already fitting right in!

She says one of her favorite things about working here is how welcoming everyone has been, and coming to work is actually fun! She's also been amazed by how many services Segars offers. Sara has been Alley's own healthcare provider for a few years, so getting to work alongside her and the rest of the team is a blessing!

For Alley, nursing is more than a job. She loves helping people feel better and believes it's a calling. She treats her patients like family, truly cares about their well-being, and wants everyone to feel comfortable asking questions, even the hard ones, without fear of judgment.

In her own words, "Nursing is a blessing. I am blessed by blessing others."

Now for a few things you might not know about Alley!

At home, she's a busy mama to two little girls, ages 2 and 4, and quite the collection of animals: 2 pigs, 14 chickens, 2 cats, 2 dogs, and a rabbit! 🐷🐔🐰

When she's not chasing little ones around, she enjoys cooking meals from scratch, canning, embroidery, and spending time with her husband, Matt. And apparently, she makes a pretty mean lasagna and homemade bread!

Her favorite local spots are El Veracruz and Taylor's Place, and what she loves most about Northeast Mississippi is the peaceful, small-town life and having such a wonderful place to raise her girls.

One last thing Alley shared really speaks to the kind of nurse she hopes to be. Every morning before her shift, she prays that God will use her hands and feet for His service.

We're glad to have Alley as part of the Segars family!

🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

The Segars Clinic team is proud to join the fight by spreading awareness and encouraging the women in our community to make their breast health a priority.

Whether it's scheduling your mammogram, learning about your family history, or talking with your provider about a change you've noticed, taking that first step is important.

We also want to recognize the survivors, remember those we've lost, and stand beside those who are still fighting.

🎀 Wait... the breast cancer awareness ribbon wasn't always PINK?!

It's true! And the story behind it is pretty incredible.

In 1991, breast cancer survivor Charlotte Haley started handing out handmade PEACH colored ribbons with a message encouraging people to push for more funding for cancer prevention research.

When SELF magazine and Estée Lauder approached her about using her ribbon, she turned them down. They went with pink instead, and as history shows, that pink ribbon eventually became one of the most recognized symbols in the world. 💗

Think about that. One woman, a handful of peach ribbons, and a message she believed in.

That's kind of the whole point of this month, isn't it? One voice. One small act. The potential to start something much bigger.

So here's your little reminder this October: check in on the women you love, talk about breast health, and encourage each other to stay up to date on recommended screenings.
