JSCC Medical Laboratory Technician Program MLT's work in a laboratory setting performing tests on body fluids.

As essential members of a healthcare team, the Medical Laboratory Technician works in close cooperation with physicians and practitioners to arrive at a diagnosis and treatment plan. MLT's use technology driven automation to test all body fluids in the diagnostic areas of Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Blood Bank and Transfusion Medicine, Immunology, and Urinalysis. ollege offers this AAS degree in a 5-month curriculum, has graduates board certification ready, and prepared for employment. Student cohorts are selected by application once a year, with new cohorts beginning in Fall semesters.

Jackson State’s MLT program has celebrated all week - National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week. The Program admitted their first students in August 1969 - wow, a story into itself and still going strong today as one of the oldest MLT programs in the United States.
