As we continue our 25-year journey of innovation, The Rane Center remains committed to advancing venous care through research that improves long-term outcomes for patients undergoing venous stenting.

This week, we are highlighting research on stent occlusion following iliocaval venous stenting. The study found that stent occlusion is an uncommon complication, occurring in approximately 3% of patients. For those who develop lifestyle-limiting symptoms, recanalization can often be performed successfully—even months or years after the occlusion—with favorable outcomes. The findings also emphasize the importance of close long-term surveillance following recanalization to help maintain continued stent patency.

25 Years of Research — Week 15

As we continue our 25-year journey of innovation, The Rane Center remains committed to advancing venous care through research that helps optimize treatment strategies for complex venous disease.

This week, we are highlighting research examining the extension of iliac vein stents into the profunda femoral vein. The study found that while venous stenting below the profunda femoral vein confluence is generally not recommended, it may be necessary in select patients to treat the full extent of disease or provide adequate inflow, particularly in cases of post-thrombotic disease. The findings demonstrate that this rare technique can be effective when performed selectively and followed with careful long-term surveillance.

As we continue our 25-year journey of innovation, The Rane Center remains dedicated to advancing venous care through research that improves patient outcomes and refines treatment techniques.

This week, we are highlighting research examining a unique complication associated with double-barrel iliocaval stenting. The study found that bilateral venous stenting with extension into the IVC may result in a size and compliance mismatch, causing one stent barrel to remain larger than the other. This can lead to inadequate decompression and persistent symptoms in the affected limb, emphasizing the importance of intravascular ultrasound in accurately diagnosing and addressing this condition.
