Six years ago, a sweet 15 year-old named Peyton started helping out around the office. Today, she’s celebrating her 6th workiversary, and I couldn’t be more proud of the incredible young woman she’s become.

Over the years, she has done just about everything at Johnson Vision Development Center—from greeting families at the front desk, helping work up our little patients, making glasses, to jumping in wherever she was needed without hesitation. No matter the task, she brings a smile, a servant’s heart, and just enough humor to keep all of us laughing, even on the busiest days.

Our patients adore her because she has a genuine gift with children. She has a way of making them feel comfortable, seen, and special, and that kindness can’t be taught—it simply comes from her heart.

As her mom, watching her grow into such a compassionate, hardworking, and caring young woman has been one of my greatest blessings. As her employer, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have someone I can always count on.

Now at 21, she’s finishing nursing school and preparing to begin an exciting new chapter in her nursing career next year. While I’m so proud of all she’s accomplished and know she will make an amazing nurse, I also know there’s going to be a huge hole at JVDC when she leaves. We truly don’t know what we’ll do without her.

Happy 6th Workiversary, Peyton! Thank you for the love, laughter, dedication, and joy you’ve brought to our office over the years. We love you, we’re incredibly proud of you, and we can’t wait to watch you change lives in your next adventure. ❤️

Whether your little one is ready to pick out the perfect pair of glasses or their favorite frames need a little TLC, our optical team is here to help!

🕶️ Walk-In Optical Hours
🕗 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM
🕐 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

During these hours, we'll be assisting with walk-in glasses repairs and frame selections so we can give every family the time and attention they deserve.

We will be out of town Monday, June 8th through Thursday, June 11th celebrating this special milestone.

JVDC is closed today, Monday, May 25th, for Memorial Day.

Our team hopes your day is filled with family, sunshine, good food, and maybe a reminder from your favorite pediatric eye crew to wear those sunglasses outside 😎☀️

For over 20 years, Maureen has been the steady, compassionate heart of vision therapy at JVDC—and she has been here since the very beginning.

When JVDC first opened its doors, she was one of the foundation cornerstones that helped build not just a practice, but a place rooted in patience, hope, and healing for children and families. From day one, Maureen helped shape what JVDC would become—a place where kids are never defined by their struggles, but by their potential.

Long before most people understand what vision therapy truly is, Maureen has been living it—day after day, child after child—helping little ones who struggle to see the world not just with their eyes, but with confidence, coordination, and hope.

She has sat beside children who were frustrated, overwhelmed, or ready to give up… and somehow always knew exactly when to encourage, when to pause, and when to gently say, “try again, we can do hard things.” And slowly, those hard moments turned into breakthroughs. The first time a child tracks a line of words without losing their place. The first time they stop saying “I can’t” and whisper “I did it.”

Those moments don’t just change vision—they change lives.

For two decades, Maureen has been a constant in a world where so much is uncertain. Families come in worried, unsure of what their child’s future will look like, and leave with something they didn’t expect: relief, gratitude, and a sense of possibility they can finally hold onto.

She has a gift for seeing children beyond their struggles. To her, they are never “behind” or “difficult” or “slow to progress.” They are kids trying their best—and she meets them exactly where they are, with patience that cannot be taught and kindness that cannot be rushed.

Twenty years later, there are countless children who read more confidently, play more freely, and believe in themselves more deeply because Maureen refused to give up on them.

And while she has spent her career helping children learn to see more than 20/20… What she’s really done is help so many of them see their own potential.

JVDC is better, stronger, and more hopeful because she didn’t just join the story—she helped build it from the very foundation.

👓 JVDC Memorial Day Hours 👓

On Monday, May 25th, our office will be closed as we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave so much for our freedom ❤️🤍💙

Our team will be spending the day with family, grilling too much food, chasing kids with popsicles, and reminding everyone that sunglasses are not a replacement for eye exams 😎🌭☀️

We’ll reopen Tuesday, May 26th at 8:30 AM — bright-eyed, fully caffeinated, and ready to help your little ones see the world clearly again! ✨🩵
