Family Service & Children’s Aid is Hiring School Based Therapist for Northwest Community Schools

Need some extra CASH? Hiring and Retention Bonus available for this position! Looking for new to the profession or a seasoned mental health adolescent therapists! No weekends and potential to work just a school day schedule (possible summers off if not needing to work all year round). Want to support 9-12th graders with learning coping skills, social skills, and provided individual and group therapy? Love the idea of working in a school but want the support of a clinical agency. Hate figuring out billing, credentialing and insurance requirements? Don’t worry, we have that stuff covered. We are hiring individuals who:
• Enjoy laughing and have a good sense of humor (potlucks too!)
• Are dedicated to improving the lives of youth, adults and families
• Want to work for a flexible and work-life balanced agency
• Enjoy taking vacations and want generous paid time off (self-care)
• Value individual supervision yet would welcome having group supervision along with access to a consulting psychiatrist
• Enjoy a team approach but have ability to be independent
• Want to have teammates to bounce ideas off of and be able to unwind with after a tough session

• Utilize an EMR system for timely documentation

As a School Based Therapist at Family Service & Children’s Aid, you will provide behavioral health services that help youth in a local high school improve their overall well-being. Provide individual and group therapy. Work with parents to assist their student in improving their mental health. Engage in activities within the school that are geared towards positive mental health and wellness. Provide professional development opportunities for the school staff. Provide interventions that align with the multitier system and support Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports in the school. Work as a team with other school staff such as Principals, Social Workers, Behavioral Interventionist, and paraprofessionals but still also have the clinical support form FSCA (Best of Both Worlds!). You would be helping to support a State Funded program at Northwest High School and would have access to amazing State Conferences for School Based Professionals. You would be working along with another seasoned therapist who oversees this program. Would be a split schedule so for full time (40 hours per week), 20-30 hours in the school and the other hours in our office or in one of our other community settings. This allows you to access support from the team and supervisors.

• FSCA provides in house training opportunities and external training opportunities including but not limited to EMDR, ASAM Continuum, GAIN, Motivational Interviewing, TF-CBT, Trauma, and trainings sponsored by DHHS, MSHN, CMHA, LifeWays and other State experts.

Qualifications for position are as follows:
• Master’s degree in Social Work or related profession, with State of Michigan licensure
• Experience as therapist working with children, teens, and/or adults. Experience in trauma, mental health and substance use, preferred.
• Training in TF-CBT, EMDR and/or CBITS or willing to obtain training in these evidence-based models (agency covers costs and provides supervision)
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
