The Jackson Center for Independent Living is a community based, nonresidential, consumer controlled program of services designed to enable persons with disabilities to achieve maximum independence and participate in all aspects of community life. That is why JCIL services are consumer driven.

Exciting news from the USDA!

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new Pilot Program within USDA Rural Development Tennessee entitled Project 250, designed to support Veterans who are homeowners in need of essential home repairs. Maintaining safe and affordable housing for the men and women who served our country is a priority for USDA Rural Development. We recognize that in many rural areas, Veterans often lack access to the financial resources necessary to maintain and repair their homes. This Demonstration Pilot serves our distinguished Veteran population across rural Tennessee, and its success will help create a model for additional states nationwide.

Project 250 provides Priority Processing for all Section 504 home repair loan and grant applications submitted in Tennessee by a Veteran or by the spouse of a deceased Veteran. This expedited process helps ensure income‑eligible Veterans receive the repair funding needed to maintain homes free from health and safety concerns.

Home repair applications are available at all USDA Rural Development Area Offices and on the USDA RD Tennessee website: www.rd.usda.gov/tn. Veterans may also contact our USDA Application Intake Office via email at [email protected] to request an application or ask questions about the repair program.
