The bad news: back issues are extremely common. The good news: many of them are highly treatable. On October 28th, join spine surgeon Dr. Christopher Hills for a spine health talk on the five most common spine issues he sees in patients, the range of options when it comes to treatment, and how to know when it’s time to seek care.

Each summer, community members and businesses support local students through the 4-H Livestock Auction, with some generously donating their purchases to St. John’s Health. This year, those donations totaled more than 1,800 pounds, helping support meals prepared by our Dietary team and offset food costs across the organization.

We’re grateful to the 4-H students for the dedication they bring to their projects and to the generous buyers who extend that impact to St. John’s Health.

Longtime community member and nurse Sarah Graham has spent years caring for residents at Sage Living. In January 2023, at 49 and with no symptoms, a routine mammogram found breast cancer. Surgery came first. Then radiation, which meant 25 drives to Idaho Falls over five weeks, a process she describes as "demoralizing and exhausting," one that turned every 15-minute treatment into most of the day.

"Often when people hear the word cancer, they don't hear a lot after that."

That is exactly why St. John's Health created a new role last year: Oncology Nurse Navigator. Meet Elizabeth Peltz, RN, who sits in on appointments with newly diagnosed patients, follows up the next day to answer questions, and coordinates care across departments and facilities so patients can focus on healing instead of logistics.

Her guiding principles: relieve the burden, be an advocate, answer the phone.
