We think you should meet Alleen.

Alleen McLain, LPC, is one of the newest therapists at Watershed, and she brings something we value deeply: genuine warmth paired with strong clinical training.

Alleen works with teens, adults, and couples navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, relationship struggles, and seasons of life that have left them feeling overwhelmed or stuck.

She is trained in EMDR and TF-CBT, has advanced training in complex trauma, and has completed Level 2 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.

We’re especially excited that Alleen is bilingual and provides counseling fully in both English and Spanish.

If your Christian faith is important to you, she can also thoughtfully integrate faith and biblical wisdom into counseling. We are mind, body, and spirit!

But beyond the credentials, Alleen wants therapy to be a place where you can show up as you are, without judgment and without having to have everything figured out first.

Alleen is accepting new clients in Jackson and via telehealth throughout Mississippi.
💙 We’re so glad she’s at Watershed.

I (Caty Coffey) almost said no to something that ended up being one of my favorite days this year. Not because I didn't have time, but because a little voice in my head said I should be "responsible" instead.

Sound familiar?

I wrote about why fun isn't something you earn after everything else is handled, and what I tell clients who feel guilty for wanting joy. Link in the comments 👇

If you feel like your teenager is slowly disappearing from you, becoming someone you barely recognize, you are not alone. And you are not failing.

But the parenting playbook most of us were handed? It wasn't written for this season.

In her latest blog post, our therapist Christen Gates writes about what's really happening inside your teenager's world right now, why the old rules are making things worse, and the one shift that changes everything.

Christen says, "This is the post I wish someone had given me years ago.”

Do you ever feel a split second of relief when you can say "this is their fault," and then somehow things get worse anyway?

There's actually a reason blame feels so good in the moment. And there's a reason it keeps you stuck.

Emily Hartman, P-LPC at Watershed Counseling just published something every couple needs to read. It's honest, it's warm, and it might just change the way you handle conflict.

Asking for marriage counseling can feel like wearing a cone of shame, like you're announcing to the world that you couldn't figure it out on your own.

But what if getting help isn't the end of something… it's the beginning?

Emily Hartman, PLPC at Watershed Counseling wrote something this week that we think a lot of couples need to hear.

Do you ever feel lonely… while sitting right next to your partner? 💔

That quiet ache, the one where you're sharing a home, a life, a bed, but something important has gone missing, is more common than most couples admit out loud.

Our therapist Emily Hartman just wrote a beautiful, honest post about the difference between a rough patch and a slow drift toward disconnection. She describes it like a shift in climate rather than a passing storm, and it's the kind of read that might put words to something you've been feeling but couldn't quite name.

If any of this sounds familiar:
→ Conversations that stay surface-level
→ Feeling more like roommates than partners
→ Conflict that never quite resolves
→ Affection that's quietly faded
..this post is for you. And so is the hope that things don't have to stay this way.

You smile. You show up. You take care of everyone around you. But quietly? You're exhausted. And a little lost.

Maybe your marriage feels more like a roommate situation than a partnership. Maybe grief has settled into your bones and you don't even know how to talk about it. Maybe you've been "fine" for so long, you're not sure you'd recognize yourself if you weren't.

That kind of heaviness doesn't just go away on its own. But you don't have to carry it alone anymore.

We're honored to welcome Emily Hartman, MAC, NCC, PLPC to Watershed Counseling.

Emily works with women and couples navigating grief, marital disconnection, life transitions, anxiety, trauma, infertility, and perimenopause, the seasons of life that quietly undo us if we don't get the right support.

She's trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Gottman Method, and trauma-informed care. But more than her credentials, Emily brings something rare: she's lived it. Nearly 30 years of marriage, four adult children, decades as a pastor's wife and ministry coach. She knows what it means to pour yourself out for others, and she knows the way back to yourself.

If part of you is whispering this is me, trust that.
