October is all about PINK—and at Baptist Cancer Center, we’re dedicated to empowering you with the facts about breast cancer. Early detection truly saves lives! If you’re a woman age 40 or older, don’t wait—schedule your annual mammogram today.

Our own Adrienne Russell, nurse navigator, shares vital information on WLBT 3 On Your Side about the importance of mammograms and how you can take charge of your health. Additionally, our Mobile Mammography Unit and Center for Breast Health team members participated in the Mississippi Department of Health Breast & Cervical Cancer Program annual event at the Trade Mart and Jesslyn Haynes participated in a podcast with Ergon.

Each quarter, MBMC gives a Patient Choice Award to a unit that was best among five categories, based on patient’s response to our surveys regarding their stay. For quarter 4, we presented five units with distinction in Cleanliness, Communication about Medications, Responsiveness, Best Inpatient, and Best Outpatient. Mississippi Baptist Medical Center proudly recognizes our chaplains during Pastoral Care Week, October 18–24. As valued members of the interdisciplinary care team, our chaplains provide compassionate spiritual support to patients, families and health care professionals. Their ministry reflects the essential role of spiritual care in whole-person health and healing.

Our chaplains receive Clinical Pastoral Education, a supervised, hands-on ministry experience centered on caring for patients at the bedside. This specialized training equips them to walk alongside people who are hurting and offer comfort, hope and spiritual guidance as patients and families face uncertainty about what lies ahead. Currently, there are seven interns in the CPE program.

Mississippi Baptist Medical Center’s seven chaplains serve our inpatients and more than 2,000 staff members. Through their ministry, they reinforce Baptist’s faith-based mission and Christ’s threefold ministry of healing, teaching and preaching. We are grateful for their compassion, dedication and vital contributions to our health care team!
