We had a fun morning touring Serenity Recovery Center in Memphis and spending time with their Executive Director, Paula Hopper. Paula has been with Serenity for 26 years and has developed some incredible programs that help both men and women on their recovery journey. Their campus is in downtown Memphis and features four unique buildings that make their clients feel at home. At the center, they have a beautiful chapel with a koi pond, giving clients a place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Thank you for being a gracious host, Paula!

JACOA was proud to support the Scarlet Rope Project by participating in it’s red sand project. Today, our staff poured red sand into sidewalk cracks, symbolizing the vulnerable individuals who "fall through the cracks" of society and are often overlooked.
This past June, participants at our annual Tennessee Teen Institute took part in the event to bring awareness to human trafficking and exploitation. 450 campers joined in to fill cracks with sand to bring awareness and hope.

Remember that goat riddle from our fishing rodeo recap? The secret is officially out! We are heading to the stadium to cheer on the Jackson Rockabillys as they take on the Cape Catfish!

JACOA has had a longstanding partnership with WTH Pathways and we’re glad we were able to host them for lunch and a tour and overview of our programs and services! We appreciate their hard work and investment in behavioral health services across West Tennessee.

WTH Pathways was glad to eat lunch and learn more about the work of our partners at Jackson Area Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependency - JACOA yesterday!

JACOA is grateful to be partnering with WTH Pathways and the Tennessee Association of Alcohol, Drug & other Addiction Services (TAADAS) to address those seeking help for kratom addiction. With the Matthew Davenport law going into effect tomorrow, kratom, 7OH, and other kratom synthetics will be banned across Tennessee. Help and hope are available.
