Last May, Skylar welcomed her second Beaches OBGYN baby, sweet Brooklyn, delivered by Dr. Manek at Baptist Medical Center Beaches. 🌈💕 Dr. Manek also delivered big brother Jackson in 2024, making this family’s story extra special to our team.

Mom Skylar says:

“I feel so incredibly blessed to have welcomed my second rainbow baby. Dr. Manek delivered both of my children — my son, Jackson, in March 2024, and my daughter, Brooklyn, in May 2026. The entire team at Beaches OBGYN has been nothing short of incredible throughout my motherhood journey.

I’d also love to recognize Dr. Peter, who cared for me through both of my pregnancy losses and gave me so much hope for the future. I’m incredibly grateful for the care and compassion I received every step of the way.

I also can’t thank my labor and delivery nurses enough. I truly loved both of my birth experiences and induction processes. Both times, I was induced at 41 weeks because apparently my babies just like to stay put! 🙂

I recommend Beaches OBGYN to everyone and will always be so grateful to the team for helping bring both of my babies safely into the world.”

When you drive by Weaver Tower tonight, you’ll notice it proudly lit in red, white and blue in remembrance of those who lost their lives 25 years ago on 9/11. 🇺🇸

We’ll the tragedy of that day, or the courage of the men and women who answered the call to help others. There are simply no words to adequately express our gratitude for the first responders who put their lives on the line to save others.

Tonight, these lights serve as a reminder of the courage and selflessness that brought people together in the face of unimaginable tragedy — values that continue to inspire those who dedicate their lives to caring for others. ❤️🤍💙

September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month. 💜

There are five main types of gynecologic cancer: cervical, ovarian, uterine/endometrial, vaginal, and vulvar cancer. Symptoms can vary, so knowing what’s normal for your body matters.

Pay attention to persistent changes like unusual bleeding, pelvic pain or pressure, bloating or changes in bathroom habits — and don’t hesitate to talk with your provider if something feels different.

Postpartum mental health deserves the same care and attention as physical recovery. 💙 We’re grateful for resources like The Motherhood Space at Baptist Health that help moms feel supported, heard, and empowered to ask for help when they need it. No mom should have to navigate postpartum mental health alone. Link in comments for more info.

“It’s something that’s completely uncontrollable, and it’s really painful, and it’s really scary, and women need a lot of support.”

Before her tragic passing earlier this month, actress Hayden Panettiere was an outspoken advocate for women with postpartum depression - something she experienced herself after the birth of her daughter in 2014.

After months of regular medical care during pregnancy, the transition to postpartum life can leave mothers feeling less supported, particularly when it comes to their mental health. But the Motherhood Space at Baptist Jacksonville is aiming to change that.

Dr. Barbara "Bobbie" Decker can attest to the power of postpartum support. She sought help from The Motherhood Space after nearly dying in childbirth led her to become "detached from reality" and have scary, intrusive thoughts. Despite working in the health care field, she was afraid to ask for help because of the stigma surrounding mental health.
