A trip to the library is more than picking out a good book—it’s a great opportunity to practice meaningful, real-life skills through ABA! 💕 At Evner Behavior Services, we love taking learning beyond the table and into everyday environments where skills can work in action.

Today’s library adventure included working on following directions, staying with an adult, making choices, waiting, appropriate library behavior, communication, independence, and safely navigating the community. 📖🌟

Every outing is an opportunity to build confidence, independence, and skills that can be used for a lifetime. 💗

Car rides don’t have to be stressful. 🚗💙

Many challenging behaviors happen because a child doesn’t yet know what they can do instead. Rather than focusing only on what to stop, we teach what to do.

On this ride, we practiced:
💜 Safe sitting
💜 Staying calm while parents drive
💜 Enjoying independent leisure activities
💜 Keeping our items with us instead of maladaptive behaviors
💜 Waiting and riding safely to our destination

By teaching functional leisure skills, setting clear expectations, and reinforcing safe choices, car rides can become calmer, safer, and more enjoyable for the whole family. Small moments like these create meaningful, lifelong skills—one ride at a time.

☀️ Splashing Into Friday! 🦆🌊

At Evner Behavior Services, we know some of the biggest learning happens when kids are having fun! Today’s water play was packed with opportunities to build meaningful skills while making a splash.

🐥 Through play, we worked on:

* 🗣️ Functional communication (“my turn,” “more,” “help,” “all done”)
* 🧩Turn-taking and sharing
* 👀 Joint attention and engagement with others
* 🧠 Following directions and problem-solving
* 💙Fine motor skills through scooping, pouring, and grasping
* 💛 Waiting, flexibility, and tolerating changes in play
* 🌟 Social interaction, imagination, and cooperative play

☀️ Summer Fun + Meaningful Learning 💙

At first glance, this looks like a fun afternoon splashing in the water… and it is! But it’s also filled with opportunities to build meaningful, functional skills through play.

At Evner Behavior Services, we love embedding learning into activities children already enjoy. During this simple backyard water play, we targeted:
💦 Functional play skills
🛟 Water safety and responding to safety directions
👀 Increasing tolerance of parent distance while remaining engaged in play
🧸 Appropriate attention-getting instead of unsafe or disruptive behaviors
⏳ Waiting, turn-taking, and following simple directions
🌟 Building independence and confidence in a natural environment

The best learning doesn’t always happen at a table. It happens during everyday moments that are motivating, meaningful, and FUN. By following a child’s interests, we create opportunities to teach skills that generalize beyond therapy sessions and into daily life.

✨ Focus + Fun = Meaningful Learning ✨

At Evner Behavior Services, some of our best learning happens through play! 🎲💙

Today we used Disney Spot It! to target so much more than matching pictures. While the game is fast-paced and fun, it naturally creates opportunities to work on important ABA goals, including:

⭐ Sustained attention and focus
⭐ Visual scanning and discrimination
⭐ Waiting and taking turns
⭐ Flexible thinking when others find the match first
⭐ Accepting wins and losses appropriately
⭐ Functional communication (“I found it!” “Your turn!”)
⭐ Joint attention and shared engagement with peers
⭐ Following directions and attending to group activities

By embedding skill acquisition into motivating activities, children stay engaged while practicing meaningful social, communication, and self-regulation skills in a natural way. Learning doesn’t always look like work at a table—it often looks like laughter, teamwork, and a favorite Disney character! 🏰✨
