Powell - Virginia “Jenny” Rose Miracle Powell, age 89, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026, at St. Vincent’s Riverside Center for Caring. Jenny was born in Bald K**b, West Virginia on October 4, 1936, to the late Elmer Mays and Nannie Hill Mays. She was one of 11 children raised in Pineville, Kentucky, where she completed her schooling. On June 15, 1952, Jenny married her best friend, Hobert Miracle. They were blessed with 48 amazing years of marriage until his passing in 2000, building a beautiful life together, raising their three children, and creating countless memories along the way. From an early age, Jenny loved to shop and find a good bargain—a passion that carried into her professional career in retail service. Over the years, she worked at several establishments, including the Factory Outlet in Saluda, South Carolina, Jacksonville Box Company, Denny’s off San Juan in Jacksonville, and multiple thrift stores. She loved discovering great deals for herself and took joy in helping others find them as well. Above all, Jenny’s greatest calling in life was being a devoted mother and Granny. She treasured her family and cherished every precious moment spent with her children and grandchildren. In 2002, Jenny found her second love and companion, Grover Wallace Powell, and the two were happily married shortly thereafter. A woman of deep faith who loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Jenny found comfort and community attending and volunteering at Westside Baptist Church, where she was a longtime member. She also found joy in tending to her plants and cooking warm meals for family and friends. Jenny was truly a treasure and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Jenny was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hobert Miracle; daughter, Cathy Miracle; sisters, Flora Anita Mays, Ruby North, and Shirley Peace; brothers, Benny Mays, Frank Mays, Leroy Mays, and Tommy Mays; brothers-in-law, Herbert Kelly, Richard Goff, Bill Cameron, Frank Peace, and Marshall Peace; sisters-in-law, Nancy Mays and Reba Mays; and step granddaughter, Heather Powell; step son-in-law, David Horne.
