Dr. Lind is a fellowship-trained surgical oncologist with more than 30 years of experience in academic medicine. Serendipity. It’s the word DCMS member Dr. Christian Koch uses to describe how he ended up specializing in endocrinology and internal medicine. A mentor advised him that endocrinology is the best job for an adventurer and medical detective. As someone that’s driven the Pacific Coast Highway in California three times, Dr. Koch is up for adventure!

New AMA data shows continued progress in physician well-being. In 2025, 41.9% of physicians reported at least one symptom of burnout, down from 43.2% in 2024.

The findings highlight meaningful national progress but also persistent variation across the profession:

Burnout rates are falling overall, and even some hard-hit specialties improved. But AMA exclusive data shows differences across physician specialties remain.
