A True knot 😍

Did you know a baby can actually tie a real knot in their umbilical cord during pregnancy?

It’s called a true knot, and it happens when a baby moves through a loop of the cord and creates an actual knot- tying a loose knot in a rope. How cool is that!

Surprisingly most true knots don’t cause harm at all and many babies are born perfectly healthy with one!

✨ True knots happen in about 1% of pregnancies
✨ They usually stay loose and continue delivering oxygen and nutrients
✨ Many aren’t discovered until the moment of birth
✨ Providers simply monitor baby closely if one is suspected

The most important thing to remember: babies are incredibly resilient, and the umbilical cord is designed to protect blood flow even with twists and knots.

Hi everyone 👋 whether you’re new here or have been following along for a while, I wanted to reintroduce myself 🤍

My name is Shira, and I’ve been supporting families since I was 16. What started as nannying grew into a lifelong passion and career. Since officially starting my practice in 2009, my journey has evolved from:
Nanny ➡️ Newborn Care Specialist ➡️ Postpartum Doula ➡️ Birth Doula ➡️ Lactation Support

Over the years, I’ve continued expanding my care to include sibling doula support and placenta services as well.

I don’t always talk enough about my full range of services, but if you’re a client, you already know I truly aim to be your all-in-one doula 🥰

So, I wanted to share this here for anyone looking for comprehensive, compassionate support through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

In addition to one-on-one care, I also host and co-host several community groups:
• A pregnancy & postpartum support group every Saturday at First Coast Midwifery (with Duval Birth Company)

Today’s babywearing workshop at group was such a success! 🤍

A huge thank you to for generously lending several carriers for families to try, and to for providing the perfect space to gather and connect. We love bringing the Riverside and surrounding communities together in such a supportive environment.

It’s safe to say the stuffed animals were a hit 😂
And to the dad, you showed up and showed out! 👏🏽
