ACP Florida was proud to be represented at the Florida Medical Association House of Delegates, where physicians from across the state came together to help shape policy and advance the voice of medicine.

Among our Chapter representatives were Juan Carlos Cardenas, MD, FACP, who has served on the ACP Florida Communications Committee, and Luis Isea Mercado, MD, FACP, a member of ACP’s Council of Early Career Physicians.

Their participation highlights the importance of internists engaging in organized medicine and advocating for physicians and patients across Florida.

Young adults are increasingly disconnected from primary care — and that matters for prevention, trust, and long-term health.

A national poll commissioned by The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center found that just 71% of adults ages 18–29 have a primary care physician, compared with 97% of adults 65 and older.

As internists, we play a key role in helping patients build lasting relationships with care, stay up to date on screenings, and avoid fragmented health decisions.
