Wright, the co-founder and owner of the Southeastern School of Neuromuscular and Massage Therapy (Keiser University) and a nationally recognized specialist in the treatment of postural dysfunction. During his many years of experience and studies, he became acutely aware of the negative physical side effects associated with prolonged exposure to high impact exercise, repetitive movements, and compe

nsatory/sedentary/fixed posturing. Concurrent with Somawürks Jay is a Certified Neuromuscular Therapist at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida. Working with various allied healthcare professionals his services are available to 3,000 plus employees within the Baptist network. Jay has been a massage instructor for Baptist Medical Center and St. Vincent's Hospital during their merger, and has been involved in the field of massage and bodywork therapy since 1995. Having owned and operated two facilities dedicated to supportive health care, his professional goal is to help educate the general public about the many benefits associated with massage therapy. He continues his studies under some of the most influential leaders in the field of soft tissue injuries and orthopedic massage techniques including: Paul St. John (NMT), James Waslaski (NMT, Sports Rehabilitation), Aaron Mattes (Active Isolated Stretching®), Eric Dalton (Advanced Myoskeletal Techniques®), and Rose Griscom (Institute of Thai Massage). Jay has lectured before numerous groups and organizations interested in supportive health options. His integrative approach is available by appointment at his San Marco office, which is located in the clinic of Melissa B. Smith, Acupuncture Physician. Thirty years ago, I began my career with ‘Massage for Wellness’. Shortly thereafter, I co-founded the ‘Center for Natural Health’ in San Marco—my first business venture.

Eight years later, that vision morphed into Somawürks by Jay ~ and oh what a journey it’s been. Growth, lessons, challenges, continuing education—and so much joy.
Parallel to that approximately 17 years ago, I also began working for Baptist Medical Center–MD Anderson. First as a contractor, PRN, part-time, and now to full-time status. It’s been an honor to grow within an organization that represents strength and clinical excellence in North Florida, and I look forward to continuing my evolution there.

As of August 31, 2025 Somawürks by Jay officially closed its doors after almost 22 years of service.

So, to everyone who has supported me and continue to along the way—thank you. Truly. You’ve been part of something deeply meaningful.
