Most people with narcissistic traits do not wake up thinking,
“I’m toxic.”

They believe they are misunderstood.

To protect that belief, the narrative changes:
They become the victim.
You become the problem.

Your boundaries are called cruelty.
Your hurt is called overreacting.
Your response becomes the focus instead of their behavior.

You cannot heal someone who is committed to protecting their narrative over facing reality.

Real change requires accountability, self-awareness, humility, and the ability to tolerate shame without shifting blame onto others.

If those things are not present, what is needed is not more explaining.

It is boundaries.

Many people are so used to answering “I’m fine” that they barely pause to check whether it’s actually true.

Sometimes it’s because they don’t want to burden anyone.
Sometimes it’s because putting words to what they really feel is hard.
Sometimes they’ve spent so long pushing things down that they’re not even sure what’s going on inside anymore.

That’s part of why therapy can feel different.

As therapists, when we ask “How are you?” we want the long version.
The complete version.
The honest version.

You do not have to edit your experience to make it easier for us to hold.

So many of us learned to feel safe only when everything is going smoothly. When plans change, uncertainty shows up, or life feels out of control, it can feel unsettling very quickly.

But peace is not about controlling every outcome.
Peace is learning how to stay grounded, flexible, and connected to yourself even when life feels uncertain.

Working on yourself might look like:
• building emotional awareness
• learning healthier coping skills
• tolerating uncertainty without spiraling
• responding thoughtfully instead of reacting automatically
• giving yourself compassion during difficult seasons

You do not have to have everything figured out to be okay. 🌿

Mental health challenges can affect anyone. Regardless of age, background, or what life may look like on the outside.

Many people are carrying stress, anxiety, grief, burnout, or struggles others may never see. A little compassion and understanding can go a long way. 💚

This Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s continue creating opportunities for people to feel supported, heard, and comfortable reaching out for help when they need it.

You are not alone.

Today, we’re thinking of those who are… 🤍

• becoming mothers for the first time
• longing to become mothers and carrying the pain of that journey
• carrying motherhood on their own
• giving everything they can to their children
• caring for children with complex medical or emotional needs
• grieving the loss of a child
• grieving the loss of a mother
• feeling distant or estranged from their mother
• healing from painful relationships with their mother
• navigating distance or estrangement with their children
• caring for aging or ill mothers
• preparing for what may be a final Mother’s Day with a loved one
• filling both parental roles
• not represented in this list, but still carrying feelings that matter today

Mother’s Day can hold joy, grief, gratitude, longing, healing, and everything in between. Whatever this day means for you, we’re thinking of you. 💛

You can care about each other and still feel stuck.

Still feel unheard.
Still feel disconnected.

Understanding your attachment style can change the way you experience relationships.

If you’ve ever found yourself feeling anxious, pulling away, or stuck in the same patterns, there may be a reason behind it.

In our latest blog, we break down the four attachment styles—secure, anxious, avoidant, and disorganized—and how they impact communication, trust, and emotional connection.
