A Journey Back to the Roots of Soluna
Some journeys become part of who you are.
Dori and Elizabeth’s journey together began back in 2014, when Soluna opened its doors. Elizabeth was one of the founding teachers on our team, helping shape the heart and spirit of what Soluna would become.
Then, in 2016, their journey took them all the way to India. Together, Dori and Elizabeth traveled to Aarsha Yoga Vidya in Kerala for advanced training with master teachers Swami Yogesh and Bhoomaji, immersing themselves in the tradition of Sivananda Yoga.
What they learned there came home with them.
They brought this practice back to Soluna, and it became woven into the way they teach to this day. It changed the way we led classes, expanded what we understood was possible, and carved a new path for what we could offer our community.
One of the postures they both came to love during that training was Scorpion, pictured here in 2016 with Elizabeth beautifully embodying the pose at our original Soluna location.
And then there’s that other special photo: Dori and Elizabeth on graduation day in India, celebrating the completion of a chapter that would continue to influence Soluna for years to come.
Sivananda Yoga is traditionally a complete, immersive practice, often around three hours in length. While we haven’t offered the full practice at Soluna in some time, pieces of it have never really left us. You can find its influence interwoven throughout our classes, in the practices, teachings, and traditions we continue to share.
And now, we’re thrilled to bring it back. Elizabeth will be leading this special class this Saturday!
There’s something beautiful about returning to where a practice began and we hope to offer it more in the future. Come practice with us. Come experience a little piece of the journey that helped shape Soluna.
See you this Saturday!
