With obesity affecting an estimated 90 million people in the United States, GLP-1 receptor agonists have emerged as highly effective pharmacologic interventions for obesity and related cardiometabolic comorbidities. These and other obesity pharmacotherapies become increasingly prescribed, clinicians need practical, evidence-based tools to guide nutritional counseling. Dietary quality becomes especially critical when caloric intake is reduced — nutritional needs must still be fully met. In an AACE Endocrine AI video, Johnson Thomas, MD, FACE, FEAA, demonstrates how clinicians can use AI tools to build an osteoporosis-focused clinical infographic on screening, treatment, and monitoring.

Dr. Thomas walks through a practical example using a detailed prompt and compares outputs from ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, showing how AI-generated materials can vary in style, level of detail, and usefulness for clinical education.

Key takeaways include writing specific prompts, providing a visual template when possible, and verifying all clinical information against current guidelines before sharing.

A decades-long study shows that excess weight acts as a cumulative exposure shaping lifelong metabolic health, with rapid BMI gain in childhood strongly predicting later-life clusters of hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and organ dysfunction. AACE President Dace L. Trence, MD, MACE, praised the 36-year follow-up and robust cohort and stressed the importance of early weight-control strategies, even during ages 6 to 18 — typically an age range in which we don’t focus on weight unless obesity or morbid obesity is present. Followed over decades, a cohort of children with faster BMI accumulation was more likely to develop clusters of metabolic diseases in adulthood, with the highest risk found in men.

In a new evaluation of AI tools, researchers found that general-purpose LLMs performed as well as or better than commercial clinical AI platforms across standardized benchmarks and blinded clinician review of real-world physician queries.

The authors described the results as a snapshot of a rapidly evolving landscape and called for independent evaluation before clinical implementation. Read more: https://aaceendocrine.ai/articles/2026/06/general-purpose-llms-outperform-commercial-medical-ai-tools/
