One of my clients flew home from the east coast last week and had a massage waiting for her the next day. She planned it before she left. That’s the kind of thinking I love. Rest is part of the plan, not the reward at the end.

If you’ve got a trip coming up or you’ve just been putting it off, I have Wednesday and Friday openings this week…..and Friday spots don’t come around very often. 😳

🌧️ Anyone else just really thankful for the rain and to be home today cleaning house? A reset?

Music cranked. Windows open and tea kettle on standby. Today is green tea and oat milk. A few candles instead of overhead lights. It all just feels so……
Nice.

🧹Like massage, cleaning can be its own kind of therapy. Making space. Clearing out what doesn’t serve you. Finding what you’ve been overlooking. (Sounds like a good time to consider a garage sale, too….)

You might be ready for the same kind of reset.

May is notorious for burnout before summer even starts. Calendars are full of celebrations, graduations, weddings, baby showers, festivals…..

Rain, candles, clean floors.
Sometimes that’s the whole medicine.

🫧And sometimes….. you need an hour or two in a calm and quiet space to recalibrate in your body and nervous system. You know where to find me when that time arrives!

A new client arrives yesterday and upon greeting her, she explained that she’d burned her hand earlier in the kitchen. I saw the burns, they looked tender. I gave her some fresh aloe to cool the hand with while we visited. We added a little cooling gel for the sting in good measure….

After stepping out for her to prepare for the massage, I dug through my mini fridge to find something suitable to help while she was on the table.

I called out to ask her if she was open to something a little odd, she agreed…

“How about a nice cold hard boiled egg?”

Not missing a beat.
“Sure!”

I’ll provide warm massage stones for clients to hold when their hands are chilled 🥶
🙌 🧊

But this was a first. The egg held the cool temp well through the session. After the massage, I encouraged her to add the egg to any Easter celebrations. I used a red Sharpie to give the brown egg some polka dots and sent her home feeling better and with the…odd…. (but egg-fective 🥁) souvenir.

My lesson in all this is?
It is time to defrost the mini fridge.

🥚 If you missed your midday protein snack, that’s ok. It could become a comforting first aid tool in your future.

‼️ Warning - I have only tried this with a hard boiled egg, but I will try to report back with findings on other eggs

Some people find zen in meditation. I find it folding laundry and work linens.

While the washer spins or I’m waiting on the dryer, I think about the clients I saw that day. Their stories, the progress they’re making, the work we did together, and ideas for next time to help them move better and feel less pain.

Mostly it’s just a quiet moment of reflection and gratitude for the people I get to work with and the fact that I truly love what I do.

I don’t even mind folding the fitted sheets.

Losing this friend, it is important to share that she found her peace among birdsong, gardening, literature, and open air, even when the world felt heavy.

📲The schedule is full this week, but next week looks inviting if you’re hankering for the opportunity to decompress, move better, feel better, and rest. Sessions offered from 45 mins up to 2 hours!

😵‍💫I’ve had a lot of clients asking about vibration plates - and I know a few of you are using them as well. Is there anything you would share about what your experience has been or the ideal models being used? They remind me of the old exercise belts that jiggled and sounded like a cement mixer. Drop your questions and protips here, please!

🥚 Also…. Eggs. I’ll usually have farm fresh eggs available and can drop off between Hamilton, Jamesport, and Chillicothe. 🛻 You can also drive by the studio if you’re in the Jamesport area - if you see the banner out, swing through for self-serve cash & carry. ❤️ Eggs are my new love language. The chickens that produce them bring me so much joy.

If you told me years ago I’d have a hitching post in my parkibg lot and an egg stand in the Amish capitol of Missouri, I would have also asked about ocean-front property In Arizona… yet here I am. And I love it! 🥰

❤️ Every year around Valentine’s Day, I receive requests about couples massage. While I do not offer a couple’s massage experience, I do offer a couple’s workshop. This is a two hour session for you and your partner to connect, learn, relax, and have fun while both receiving table time and individual coaching on effective techniques for massaging each other at home.

Ideally, the workshop allows you to confidently and effectively provide therapeutic massage for each other.

(You know ….the 30 second “squeezees” on the upper traps before hearing “My hands are tired”…. Ladies, this is not a unique experience 😳 )
