Families impacted by autism and other sensory sensitivities are invited to enjoy:
💙 Early park access beginning at 9:00 AM (before the general public)
🤍 A quieter, more sensory-friendly environment
🧘 A dedicated calming room for those who need a break

It’s wonderful to see community partners creating opportunities where every child and family can feel welcomed, supported, and included.

We’re excited to announce that Mary Kate Maske, LPC, owner of The Brave Space LLC, will be opening her private pediatric counseling practice along side Marigold Speech & Co. this October!

As an independent counseling practice leasing space within our clinic, The Brave Space expands the resources available to families right here in Janesville.

This creates a unique opportunity for families seeking comprehensive care. While remaining independent practices, our providers can collaborate—when appropriate and with your consent—to support children through speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and counseling, all under one roof.

Even better? The Brave Space accepts insurance and is now scheduling new clients for October!

We believe our community deserves convenient access to high-quality, collaborative care, and we’re thrilled to see another locally owned practice growing alongside ours.

Here’s the important part…

If you regularly avoid certain foods, need extra drinks to “wash food down,” or cough during meals, it isn’t something you should simply accept as part of getting older.

Difficulty swallowing (dysphagia) can be associated with stroke, Parkinson’s disease, head and neck cancer, reflux, neurological conditions, and other medical diagnoses—but it is not a normal part of aging.

The good news? A swallowing evaluation can identify what’s happening and help you eat and drink more safely and comfortably.

🎒✏️ Can you believe the school year is just around the corner?

💡 Back-to-School Pro Tuesday Tip: Practice opening all those brand-new school supplies before the first day of school!

A little practice now can make a BIG difference in your child’s confidence and independence.

Try practicing:
✂️ Opening snack bags and food containers
🥤 Opening water bottles
🍱 Opening and closing lunch boxes
📦 Unwrapping straws and utensils
🖍️ Opening crayon boxes, markers, glue sticks, and pencil cases
🎒 Zipping backpacks and lunch bags
👕 Putting on and taking off coats or sweatshirts

These everyday tasks help build:
🙌 Hand strength
🤏 Fine motor skills
🤝 Bilateral coordination (using both hands together)
👆 Finger dexterity
💪 Independence

Starting the school day feeling capable of managing these small tasks can help children focus on what really matters—learning, making friends, and having fun!
