Did you know I work with some VERY tiny clients? 👶💙

CranioSacral Therapy isn't only for adults.

Because the approach is gentle and can be adapted to the individual, I also work with infants and children experiencing a variety of concerns.

Parents may seek complementary support around things such as:
• Difficult or traumatic birth experiences
• Latching and sucking challenges
• Tongue-tie care alongside the appropriate providers
• Head or neck tension
• Body asymmetry or movement restrictions
• Sensory concerns
• General nervous system regulation

One of the most important things to understand about pediatric CranioSacral Therapy is that we follow the child.

I'm not expecting an infant or toddler to lie perfectly still on a table for an adult-style session.
We adapt.
We listen.
We work with what their body allows us to do that day.

And parents and caregivers are an important part of that process.

If you've wondered what CranioSacral Therapy actually looks like with a baby or child, leave your questions below. This is a topic I'd love to share more about. đź’™

This is one of those little ones I'll never forget. đź’™

When I first met this child as a newborn, there had been significant challenges after birth.

Baby wasn't breathing initially, was very lethargic, and was struggling to suck, latch, and breastfeed.

During our first CranioSacral Therapy session, I began with a gentle evaluation and worked with exactly what this tiny body was allowing me to do.

At first, I wasn't able to place my finger inside baby's mouth to assess the sucking pattern.

As the session progressed, that changed.

By the end of that first session, baby was able to latch and breastfeed.

Today, that little newborn is 3 years old, doing wonderfully, eating without those early feeding challenges, and comes in primarily for routine check-ins.

Stories like this are incredibly special to me.

But they're also an important reminder that every baby is different. One child's experience is not a promise of what another child will experience, and CranioSacral Therapy isn't a replacement for appropriate pediatric, lactation, or medical care.

My job is to meet each child exactly where they are and support their individual needs alongside their parents and healthcare team.

It has been such a gift watching this little one grow. đź’™

One of the areas I've been diving deeper into as I prepare for the Finding Joy with Parkinson's Conference is cerebrospinal fluid—or CSF. 🧠

The 2024 article The Expanding Role of CSF in Health and Disease explores the important role CSF plays in brain health, including circulation and the clearance of waste from the central nervous system.

This becomes particularly interesting when we begin looking at neurodegenerative conditions such as Parkinson's disease.

Researchers are continuing to investigate how impaired waste clearance, accumulation of substances within the brain, and changes within the systems surrounding CSF may contribute to neurological disease.

So where does CranioSacral Therapy fit into this conversation?

CranioSacral Therapy focuses on the structures surrounding the brain and spinal cord and the craniosacral system. While we cannot say that CST prevents or treats Parkinson's disease based on the research currently available, understanding the role of CSF gives us an interesting area to continue exploring.

That's one of the reasons I'm so passionate about continuing to learn.

I'll be sharing more of the research I've been reading throughout September as we count down to the Finding Joy with Parkinson's Conference on September 30. đź’™

📚 I'll link the research in the comments if you'd like to read along with me.

We're officially about one month away from the Finding Joy with Parkinson's Conference! đź’™

On September 30, I'll be joining other sponsors, professionals, community resources, individuals living with Parkinson's, families, and caregivers for a day of connection and education at the Woodman's Sports & Convention Center.

I'll be there in person representing Rock County CranioSacral Clinic, so make sure you stop by my booth and say hello!

I'll also be presenting during the event, and I'll share more details about that as we get closer.

In the meantime, I'll be continuing to share educational information and research as we explore the broader conversation around Parkinson's, nervous system health, CranioSacral Therapy, and whole-person support.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to sponsor and participate in this event, and I hope to see many familiar faces there.

Let's talk about something we don't always recognize as stress:
Change.
A new school year.
A different schedule.
A new activity.
A change in routine.
Even something you're genuinely excited about.

Our bodies don't only respond to "bad" stress.

Any significant transition can require the nervous system to adjust—and August tends to bring a LOT of adjustment for families.

You may notice difficulty sleeping, increased tension, headaches, fatigue, irritability, or simply feeling more overwhelmed than usual.

Children can experience this, too, even when they're excited to return to school.

This doesn't mean anything is necessarily wrong. Sometimes the body is simply working hard to adapt to everything happening around it.

Creating intentional opportunities for rest and nervous system support can be especially important during seasons of transition.

As your family moves into the school year, pay attention to what your bodies are telling you.

Sometimes slowing down is exactly what helps us move forward. đź’™

Reviews like this mean so much to me. đź’™

Katlyn came in for her first CranioSacral Therapy session after dealing with headaches, neck and lower back discomfort, and other changes in her body.

After her session, she shared:
“By the time I got home, pain was almost non-existent… I still cannot believe it.”

Every person's experience with CranioSacral Therapy is unique, and I am always grateful when someone takes the time to share what their session felt like and how their body responded afterward.

Thank you, Katlyn, for trusting me with your care and for sharing such an honest reflection on your experience.

When you're a new parent, there is SO much information coming at you.

Feeding. Sleep. Development. Appointments. Screenings. Vaccines.

And sometimes it can feel like you're expected to simply keep up rather than stop and ask questions.

So here's your reminder:

It's okay to ask questions about your child's care.

When it comes to vaccinations, there can be a difference between what is recommended, what may be recommended based on an individual child's circumstances, and what is legally required for things like childcare or school.

Before your child receives a vaccine, you can ask:
• What vaccine is being recommended today?
• What disease does it protect against?
• Why is it recommended at this age?
• What are the known benefits, risks, and possible side effects?
• Are there reasons my child's individual health history would change the recommendation?
• Is this required for childcare or school, or is it a medical recommendation?
• Where can I read more before making my decision?

For many childhood vaccines, providers are required to give a parent or legal representative a Vaccine Information Statement explaining the vaccine's benefits and risks before it is administered.

This isn't about telling another parent what decision to make.

It's about remembering that you are an important member of your child's healthcare team.

Ask questions. Read the information you're given. Talk with your child's healthcare provider. Understand what you're consenting to.

Being curious doesn't make you difficult.

It makes you engaged in your child's care. đź’™

One question I often receive from parents is:
"Can children receive CranioSacral Therapy?"

Yes. đź’™

CranioSacral Therapy uses a very gentle, light-touch approach and can be adapted to meet each person where they are—including infants and children.

Every child is different, which means every session is different, too. My approach is never about forcing a child to lie perfectly still or expecting their session to look exactly like an adult's session.

We meet them where they are.

As we head into another school year, children may also be navigating changes in schedules, activities, sleep, social environments, and daily demands.

If you have questions about CranioSacral Therapy for your child or you're wondering what an appointment might look like, please feel free to reach out.

And a quick reminder: after-school appointment times tend to fill quickly once school is back in session, so scheduling ahead is always encouraged! 📚

As I prepare for the conference, I've been spending time reviewing published research and case reports exploring CranioSacral Therapy, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), and nervous system health.

One article that really caught my attention was "The Expanding Role of CSF in Health and Disease" (2024), which discusses how healthy cerebrospinal fluid circulation may play an important role in clearing waste products from the brain and how disruptions in that process are being studied in neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.

While research in this area is still evolving, I believe it's important to continue learning, asking questions, and staying informed about emerging science surrounding the nervous system and whole-person care.

I'll be sharing additional research and educational resources throughout August and September as we count down to the conference.

If you'll be attending, I'd love for you to stop by my booth, say hello, and learn more about CranioSacral Therapy. I'll also be presenting during the conference, and I'll share more about my presentation as we get closer.

📚 I've linked several additional research articles in the comments if you'd like to explore them yourself.

I look forward to seeing many of you on September 30! đź’™

Backpacks. School supplies. Sports. Activities. New routines.

And suddenly, those after-school hours disappear FAST. 📚

As families begin transitioning back into the school-year routine, this is your reminder to think ahead about appointments, too.

After-school appointment times are some of the first to fill once school begins. If CranioSacral Therapy is already part of your child's or family's wellness routine, I encourage you to schedule ahead rather than waiting until everyone's calendar is packed.

And if your child has had a busy, active, or stressful summer, this can also be a wonderful time to check in and support their body and nervous system as they transition into a new season.

The beginning of the school year brings a lot of change—even the exciting kind.

If you know you'll need an after-school appointment, reach out now to reserve a time that works best for your family. đź’™
