Why Your Brain Needs "White Space"

We often treat rest as something we have to earn after the work is done. However, Scripture shows us that rest is a spiritual discipline.
The enemy loves a crowded mind because worry grows in the noise. When we create "white space", intentional moments of quiet, we allow our neural pathways to downshift from "survival mode" into "connection mode" with God.

This month, try this:

Surrender the Schedule: Ask God which "good" thing you can say "no" to this month to make room for Him.
The Sabbath Breath: When you feel the "summer rush," stop and pray: "The Lord is my Shepherd; I have all that I need."
The 10-Minute Quiet: Spend the first 10 minutes of your day without screens or tasks.

The Healing that Begins Beneath the Surface

A Message from Our Director
Lynette Cheatle

Over the past several weeks, I've spent time caring for people and caring for a building.

As a counselor, I sit with individuals navigating anxiety, grief, relationship struggles, life transitions, and questions about who they are and where God is leading them. As Director of Redeemed, I've also been helping oversee a recent evaluation of our building following a water event.

Both have reminded me of the same truth: sometimes the real problem isn't what we see first.

After the water event, we've been taking a closer look at the building. While there were some visible signs that attention was needed, the process has reminded me that what we see on the surface often points to something deeper that deserves care.

The same is often true in counseling.

Many people first seek help because of symptoms they can no longer ignore. Maybe sleeping and eating have become difficult. Relationships feel strained. Emotions seem overwhelming. Anger comes out in ways they never intended. The visible struggles are real, but they often point to deeper hurts, losses, fears, beliefs, or patterns that have been developing over time.

Sometimes it takes a difficult circumstance to reveal what has been hidden beneath the surface. While those moments can be painful, they can also become invitations to healing and growth.

As we continue to evaluate our building's needs and care for the ministry entrusted to us, I am reminded daily of the work God does in people's lives. Healing is rarely about simply addressing what is visible. It often begins when we are willing to look deeper.

It is a privilege to walk alongside those seeking hope and healing and to help steward a ministry dedicated to that purpose.
