Ever wonder what that scanner is doing as it rolls up someone's spine in our office?

That is our thermal scan, one part of our INSiGHT nervous system exam. Two infrared cameras read the temperature on each side of the spine as they move up your back.

Here is why that matters. Every muscle, organ, gland, and tissue in your body is supplied by a nerve. When there is irritation along a nerve, it creates inflammation, and inflammation creates heat. That is exactly what this scan is picking up.

A temperature difference from one side of the spine to the other is a sign of stress on the nervous system, something you cannot see on an X-ray and usually cannot feel until it has been building for a while.

This scan tells the whole story.

This patient came to see us after years of dealing with tension headaches. She works a desk job, and a couple times a week by the end of the day it turned into a full blown migraine.

We ran an EMG scan on her neck. The top scan is hers. The bottom is a normal scan. All that red you see is how much tension was in her neck when we took this, and she was just sitting there at rest. Her muscles were literally working overtime just to hold her head up.

That is why by the end of the day those muscles are worn out and tipping her into a headache.

Our goal with care is to get her scan looking like that bottom one. We are correcting the problem, not just treating the symptom.

This scanner sitting on our desk was certified by NASA.

60 lbs of pulling on a newborn's head and neck. That's just an average vaginal delivery.

C-sections put even more traction through that same area.
