ADHD & Mental Health Care: Looking at the Whole Child 🌱🧠

We know that stimulants and traditional medications can be incredibly helpful for some children—but they may not be the right choice for every child or every family.

At Southern Blessings Adult & Pediatrics, Tiffany, CRNP takes a whole-child, integrative approach to ADHD and mild mental health concerns. Rather than focusing only on controlling symptoms, we can also ask a bigger question:

“Is there something contributing to how this child’s brain and body are functioning?”

A root-cause approach may look at areas such as:

• Nutrition and nutrient status
• Iron, vitamin D, B12/folate and other nutritional factors when indicated
• Thyroid and metabolic health
• Sleep quality and sleep disorders
• Gut health and digestive concerns
• Blood-sugar stability and eating patterns
• Stress, anxiety, trauma and environmental factors
• Development, learning differences and sensory needs
• Lifestyle, movement and daily routines

The goal isn’t to simply “reset” a child or promise that ADHD can be cured. ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition. Instead, our goal is to identify and address factors that may be making symptoms harder to manage, support healthy brain and body function, and build an individualized plan for the child and family.

Sometimes that plan includes nutrition, supplements when appropriate, sleep and lifestyle support, behavioral strategies, therapy or school accommodations. Sometimes medication is still the best tool—and integrative care can be used alongside it. This is not an anti-medication approach. It is an individualized approach.

We also recognize that caring for a child with ADHD, anxiety, behavioral challenges or other mental health concerns affects the entire family. Supporting and educating parents is an important part of the process, too. đź’›

A note about testing: Depending on your child’s history and symptoms, Tiffany may recommend additional laboratory or specialty testing. Some integrative or functional testing is not covered by insurance, even when it may provide useful information. We will discuss recommended testing, its purpose and potential out-of-pocket costs with families so you can decide what is appropriate for your child.

Every child’s story is different. Our job is to listen to that story and build a plan around the whole child—not just a diagnosis. 🌿

Our Community Is Hurting

At Southern Blessings Adult & Pediatrics, we want families to know that mental health is part of health — and help is available.

We offer pediatric evaluation, treatment, and ongoing support for concerns including:

đź’š Depression
đź’š Anxiety
đź’š Emotional and behavioral concerns
đź’š ADHD and attention concerns (non stimulant and functional options)
đź’š Mood changes
đź’š Other mild-to-moderate mental health concerns

Our provider, Tiffany Tolliver, CRNP, has completed specialized training in pediatric mental health through the KYSS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Fellowship at The Ohio State University and continues to expand her education in pediatric mental and behavioral health.

Sometimes a child or teenager who is struggling doesn’t know how to ask for help. Sometimes parents know something isn’t right but don’t know where to begin.

You can begin with us.

We can provide an initial evaluation, help develop a treatment plan, provide appropriate ongoing care, and coordinate or refer to higher-level psychiatric services when a child’s needs are beyond what can safely be managed in primary care.

Please talk to your children. Ask the uncomfortable questions. Pay attention to changes in sleep, friendships, school performance, behavior, withdrawal, hopelessness, or statements about not wanting to be here.

And most importantly, remind them that asking for help is never something to be ashamed of.

Our provider, Tiffany Tolliver, CRNP, is so excited to begin a new 12-month Pediatric Fellowship in Functional & Integrative Psychiatry through Psychiatry Redefined! 🧠💙

This fellowship brings together education from leading specialists in functional psychiatry and takes a deeper look at the many factors that can influence a child’s mental and behavioral health.

Throughout this journey, Tiffany will be expanding her knowledge in areas such as:

🧠 ADHD, anxiety, depression & behavioral concerns
🧩 Autism & neurodevelopmental conditions
🌿 Functional and integrative approaches to pediatric mental health
🦠 The gut-brain connection
🥗 Nutrition and nutrient deficiencies

My passion has always been pediatrics and women. đź©·

Two very different worlds—but both hold such a special place in my heart.

My heart is in making children feel like they matter and helping women feel like the very best version of themselves.

That is the reason behind both Southern Blessings Adult and Pediatrics LLC and Southern Blessings Weight Loss & Wellness

In the mornings, I get to spend my days with children. I get to watch them grow, celebrate their milestones, help them heal, wipe away the sniffles, calm worried mamas, and remind every little one who walks through our doors that they are important, heard, and cared for. đź©·

Then, in the evenings, I get to pour into women.

I get to encourage women as they work toward their goals. I get to help them become healthier, regain confidence, and feel comfortable in their own skin again. I get to celebrate the pounds lost, the confidence gained, and all of those little victories in between.

And sometimes, I get to help them simply slow down for a little while—performing facial treatments, caring for their skin, and helping them glow like they’ve never glowed before. ✨

Children deserve to grow up knowing they matter.

Women deserve to look in the mirror and feel good about the person looking back at them.

That’s my passion. That’s my purpose. And that’s the heart behind Southern Blessings. 🩷
