During speech therapy, we often incorporate language opportunities into feeding activities by using spoken words, signs, gestures, and AAC to help children communicate while exploring foods.
We may work on:
✨ Requesting “more,” “eat,” or “drink”
✨ Commenting like “yummy,” “cold,” or “all done”
✨ Making choices between foods
✨ Describing textures, colors, or tastes
✨ Increasing participation and engagement during mealtimes
Pairing communication with motivating, meaningful activities like eating helps children learn that communication has power! 💛
Every bite can become an opportunity for connection, interaction, and language growth. 😊
