🤰 Pregnancy Tip of the Week

Your core still matters!

Pregnancy isn't a time to stop using your abs — it's a time to learn how to use them well. 💪

One of my favorite places to start is a deep core contraction.

Your deep abdominal muscles work together with your pelvic floor, diaphragm, and back to help support your growing belly and manage pressure as your body changes.

And it doesn't need to be a huge squeeze! The goal is a controlled contraction while you keep breathing — not sucking your stomach in or holding your breath.

🎥 I'm demonstrating this lying on my back because it's easy to see and learn in this position, but you can absolutely practice it lying on your side or on hands and knees if that's more comfortable for you.

Once you've got it, try using that connection when you stand up, lift something, exercise, or pick up your other kiddos. 🙃

Questions? Drop them in the comments! I'm always happy to help. Follow along for more pregnancy tips! 💙

Great physical therapists never stop learning. 🌱

And if we're serious about providing exceptional care at Uplift, we have to create a place where that learning can actually happen.

That means time to think about patients. Time to ask questions. Time to collaborate. And mentorship that's actually built into the job—not something we put in a job posting and hope happens along the way.

As Uplift grows, this has become a big part of the practice we're building.

Our clinicians receive ongoing 1:1 mentorship, hands-on clinical skills labs, quarterly deep dives, continuing education, and dedicated time to keep developing their skills.

Why does that matter?

For our patients, it means being cared for by clinicians who keep learning, stay curious, and aren't afraid to look deeper when something isn't adding up. 💛

For our physical therapists, it means having the support and opportunity to become an even better clinician—without having to do all of that growth on your own time.

Because excellent patient care and excellent clinician development go hand in hand.

And right now, we're looking for the next physical therapist to join Uplift. ✨

Whether you're already experienced in pelvic health or you're a strong clinician interested in expanding your skills, we'd love to connect.

You don't have to be actively job hunting. If something about the way we're building Uplift sounds like the kind of place you'd want to practice, check out our newly updated career page and say hello.

We're building a higher standard of physical therapy—for the people we treat and the clinicians who care for them.

Pain changes how you move.

Leaking changes how you exercise.

Prolapse can make you second-guess lifting, running, or even being active.

Back or hip pain can slowly turn into avoiding more and more of the things you used to do.

And that's where these problems become bigger than the symptom itself. ❤️‍🩹

Being able to move matters for your health.

Exercise helps us build strong bones and muscles, support heart and metabolic health, maintain independence as we age, and simply keep doing the things that make life feel like ours.

That's a big part of why we do what we do at Uplift.

We don't just want you leaking less.

We don't just want your back to hurt less.

We want you to be able to move, exercise, and live your life without your body constantly putting limits on what you can do. 💪

That's also why pelvic health and orthopedic physical therapy belong together.

Your pelvic floor doesn't exist separately from your hips, back, strength, breathing, or movement. And great physical therapy shouldn't treat it that way.

At Uplift, we're continuing to build a higher standard for pelvic + orthopedic physical therapy in North Georgia—one that helps people move better, feel better, and get back to what matters. ✨

🌿 Pregnancy Tip of the Week

Take a few minutes every day to simply walk.

You don't need a perfect workout. Even a 10–15 minute walk can help with circulation, reduce stiffness, ease stress, improve sleep, and help prepare your body for labor.

Remember: consistency beats perfection. Little things really do add up. 💕

Questions? Drop them in the comments! I'm always happy to help. 💙

🚩 Your physical therapist should ask about your bladder.

Yes...even if you came in for back pain.

Or hip pain.
Or tailbone pain.
Or SI joint pain.
Or groin pain.

Why?

Because your pelvic floor, core, diaphragm, hips, and low back don't work in isolation. They function as one system.

If you're dealing with back pain and you've noticed leaking, urinary urgency, constipation, pelvic pressure, or pain with s*x, those aren't just "extra problems." They may be important clues to why your pain isn't getting better.

At Uplift, every evaluation starts by looking at the whole picture—not just the body part that hurts. Sometimes the missing piece isn't your back at all.

Patients deserve care that looks beyond the obvious.

And physical therapists deserve the training to confidently recognize when the pelvic floor is part of the story.

We're raising the standard for pelvic health in North Georgia. Whether you're looking for exceptional care or you're a PT who wants to provide it, we'd love to meet you.

We have to raise the standard of care for back and hip pain.

One of the biggest gaps I see in orthopedic physical therapy is this:

We treat the painful area...
…but we don't always assess the entire system.

The pelvic floor isn't separate from the hips, spine, diaphragm, or abdominal wall. They work together to create stability, manage pressure, and support movement.

When the pelvic floor isn't assessed, we're missing information that can change treatment decisions and patient outcomes.

That's not about blaming therapists.

It's about recognizing that our profession continues to evolve—and our evaluations should evolve with it.

That's exactly why I'm hosting a free Pelvic Health Skills Lab for PTs and PT students next month.

My goal isn't to turn every orthopedic PT into a pelvic health specialist.

My goal is to equip clinicians with practical screening tools they can use immediately, help them recognize when the pelvic floor belongs in the conversation, and ultimately raise the standard of care for our community.

If you're a PT—or you know a PT or PT student who wants to provide more comprehensive care—please tag them or share this post. Registration is free, but space is limited. Scan the QR code on the flyer below to reserve your spot by 8:00 PM on Friday, August 14.

Our patients deserve more than partial evaluations. North Georgia deserves a higher standard of care.

"It feels like something is falling out..."

If you've ever thought that...

👉 That's not "just getting older."
👉 That's not something you have to live with.

It could be pelvic organ prolapse.

Here's what I hear all the time:

• "Just do Kegels."
• "It's normal after kids."
• "Let's wait and see."

😑

Here's the truth:

🚨 Prolapse isn't just a weak pelvic floor.

It's a pressure + coordination issue.

That means we're looking at:
✔️ Breathing
✔️ Core pressure
✔️ Hips and ribcage
✔️ How your entire system works together

Not just squeezing harder.

✨ Symptoms can improve.
✨ That heavy, dragging feeling can decrease.
✨ You can get back to doing the things you love.

The sooner you address prolapse, the more options you often have—and the easier it is to keep symptoms from taking over your life.

If you've been feeling pressure, heaviness, or like "something just isn't right," don't wait until it gets worse.

📍At Uplift Pelvic Health in Jasper, we help people move with confidence again.
