The Life and Legacy of Edison Grant Sr.
As I share this video montage set to “Trust in God,” I can’t think of a song that better represents my father and the life he lived.
Dad didn’t just tell me to trust God—he showed me what trusting God looked like every single day. He taught me that faith isn’t just something you talk about on Sundays; it’s something you live every day through your actions, your character, and your unwavering commitment to God’s Word.
Dad truly was the greatest husband and father our family could have ever asked for. He wasn’t the kind of man who was always quick to tell people what they should do. Instead, he led by example. His everyday life was a living testimony of love, humility, integrity, compassion, and faithfulness.
If you knew my dad, then you also knew how funny he was. His quick wit and clever comebacks could fill an entire room with laughter in an instant. He had a way of bringing joy to everyone around him, and those memories will forever bring smiles to our hearts.
Dad, I am incredibly honored to carry your name. I can still hear you saying, “Son, don’t shame my name.” I want you to know that I will spend the rest of my life striving to live up to the legacy you’ve left behind—a legacy built on honor, dignity, compassion, love for your family, and genuine love for people.
Most of all, thank you for teaching me that love isn’t just something you say—it’s something you demonstrate. You showed us that love is found in how you treat people, how you serve others, how you honor your family, and how you carry yourself every single day.
Dad, I love you more than words could ever express. There isn’t a single day that passes that I don’t miss you or find myself reliving one of the countless precious memories we’ve shared together.
I have been blessed beyond measure to call you my father, my mentor, my best friend, and even the best man in my wedding. What an incredible gift God gave me through you. Thank you for every lesson, every laugh, every sacrifice, every hug, every conversation, and every example you set before me.
And Dad, I want you to know that we’re doing our very best to take care of the love of your life. We know we’ll never do it as well as you did, but we’re loving her the best way we know how, just as you taught us.
