So true! As a physician, I sign many disability forms for people who are permanently disabled and the number of times I have had to sign the same form for the same person to affirm that they are still permanently disabled is insulting to patients and to my time.

Think of the cost in reassessment time, money, stress, pain, radiation exposure, and logistical strain for the patient and their support people to repeatedly jump through these hoops. If someone is possibly going to recover, I am absolutely willing to review this every six months. If we’ve already determined that this is a permanent condition, why are we hassling everyone?

Does the government know what the word permanent means? Doesn’t insurance know what the word permanent means? Can’t I fill out a form once that affirms that someone is permanently disabled? furthermore, they frequently gone to court to receive Social Security disability. That is an independent review of the data and usually there’s an independent physician involved as well. This has been proven multiple ways that this is not fraud.

His inoperable severe degenerative disc disease is not improving. The fact that her leg has been amputated above the knee will not change. The fact that they have no sensation below their waist is stable. I shouldn’t have to fill this out every 6 months. This is ridiculous and an insult to people who have already proven that they are disabled in a permanent way. We’re not talking about someone who can recover from hip surgery in a short time. We’re talking about severe permanent changes to the human body that won’t improve with time.

🚨 Newborns are bleeding from a preventable condition as more parents refuse the vitamin K shot given at birth.

Across the United States, doctors are warning about a troubling rise in parents declining the standard vitamin K injection for newborns. This shot is not a vaccine. It is a simple, long-used treatment that helps a baby’s blood clot properly.

Newborns naturally have very low vitamin K levels, and without enough of it, they can develop vitamin K deficiency bleeding, or VKDB. The danger is that the bleeding can happen inside the body, including in the brain or intestines, where parents may not notice it until the baby is seriously ill.

According to CDC guidance, babies who do not receive the vitamin K shot are 81 times more likely to develop severe bleeding than those who receive it. In some cases, VKDB can lead to seizures, brain damage, or death.

A ProPublica investigation reported that refusal of the newborn vitamin K shot has risen sharply in the U.S., with a national study finding that more than 5% of babies did not receive it in 2024 — a 77% increase since 2017.

Doctors say the rise is being driven partly by online misinformation and confusion, even though vitamin K has been a standard newborn protection for decades. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends vitamin K for all newborns shortly after birth.

A single shot can prevent a rare but devastating condition.

Please get vaccinated against the flu. It’s deadly every year and children have already died of this season’s flu virus.

Facts:

While most people do recover from the flu, it kills tens of thousands of people every year in the United States alone - between 12,000 and 52,000 deaths annually, with hundreds of thousands of hospitalizations.[1] Globally, influenza causes an estimated 290,000 to 650,000 respiratory deaths each year.[2]

The flu shot is not a "death sentence" - it's actually remarkably safe. Millions of people receive flu vaccines each year, and the most common side effects are mild and temporary: sore arm, headache, muscle aches, or low-grade fever that goes away in a day or two.[3] Serious adverse events are extremely rare.[4][5] In contrast, the flu itself can cause serious complications including pneumonia, heart attacks, strokes, and death - particularly in older adults, young children, pregnant women, and people with chronic health conditions.[1]

The numbers speak for themselves. In the U.S. alone, influenza causes 9 to 41 million illnesses and 140,000 to 710,000 hospitalizations every year.[1] Even healthy people can develop severe complications. Among hospitalized flu patients, 15-22% require intensive care, 5-11% need breathing machines, and 2-4% die in the hospital.[6][7]

The choice isn't between a harmless flu and a dangerous vaccine - it's between a vaccine with minimal, temporary side effects versus a disease that hospitalizes hundreds of thousands and kills tens of thousands every year.

The evidence overwhelmingly supports vaccination as the safer choice. And yes, even if it’s not a perfect match for the seasonal strain!
