Have your compression stockings stopped helping you? 🧦 Dr. Ryan shares two reasons why your compression stockings aren't working anymore.

1️⃣ Over time, compressions stockings can wear down and lose their elasticity, so they don't provide the same pressure they used to.

2️⃣ It could be a sign your vein condition is progressing. To be sure and get your questions answered, schedule a vein screening to see about treatment.

Visible veins on your legs? There are two common types people notice: spider veins and varicose veins.

Varicose veins (photo on the left) are larger, bulging veins that look raised or rope-like. Spider veins (photo on the right) are the small veins that often look like little branches or webs.

Seeing either type of veins can be a sign of abnormal pressure building up in your veins. When these veins first appear, they may not have any symptoms, but eventually they cause aching, heaviness, swelling, or tired legs. Most people don’t know that treatments really help.

Watch to learn how Dr. Ryan diagnoses vein conditions with an ultrasound, helping patients discover if they have vein conditions regardless of whether they have any visible veins. Remember, you don't have to have visible veins to have a vein condition.

Phlebitis means inflammation in a vein. You may notice redness, warmth, tenderness, swelling, or a firm cord under the skin.

Most cases are not dangerous and often improve with time. But if the redness is spreading or the pain is severe, it’s important to have it checked by your medical provider, who may suggest a vein ultrasound to check for blood clots.

If you have ongoing trouble with phlebitis, a visit to a vein specialist can help sort those out.
