With broken hearts, we share the passing of our beloved Kevin Ivey Newby, who left us on Friday, August 7, 2026, in Savannah, Georgia, at the age of 38.

Kevin was born in Macon, Georgia, and spent his life in Middle Georgia. He was a hardworking man who took pride in his work as a heavy equipment operator with Sellers Construction. But to those who loved him, Kevin was so much more than his job. He was a son, a father, a brother, an uncle, a nephew, a cousin, and a friend who will be deeply missed.

Kevin leaves behind his two precious daughters, Carly and Mileigh. He is also survived by his mother, Robin (Rusty) McGuffin; his father, Jesse (Sissy) Newby; his brother, Jerry (Nicki) Newby and their children, Addy and Jax; his sister, Haley (Dylan) McGuffin; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roland E. “R.E.” and Catherine Nobles and Jerome L. “Sonny” and Tinie Newby.

There are no words that can truly express the pain of losing Kevin. His absence leaves a space in our family that can never be filled. We will hold close the memories we shared, the moments that made us laugh, and the love that will remain with us always.

Services will be held Monday, August 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Reece Funeral Home in Jeffersonville, Georgia. Burial will follow at Lee Cemetery in Twiggs County. Elder Sam Bryant and Rev. Levi Carpenter will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 1:00–2:00 PM before the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kevin’s memory to benefit his two daughters, C/O State Bank of Cochran, 112 Beech St., Cochran, GA 31014.

Rest peacefully, Kevin. You will be loved, remembered, and missed more than words can ever say.

William "Bill" Owen Birdsong

GORDON, GA - William "Bill" Owen Birdsong, age 79, of Twiggs County, Georgia, passed away on July 28, 2026.

Born in Macon, Georgia, to the late Dr. William and Geneva Birdsong, Bill was an only child who grew up to build a life deeply rooted in faith, family, and a love for the outdoors.

Bill pursued his higher education first at Truett McConnell University in Cleveland, Georgia and later at Mercer University in Macon. A hardworking and dedicated man, Bill worked at Turner Signs in his early adulthood. He later transitioned to his true vocation as a farmer, spending many years tending the land he loved before his retirement. A devoted Christian, Bill was a faithful, long-time member of New Haven Baptist Church, where he served his congregation proudly as a Deacon.

An avid outdoorsman, Bill was most at home in nature, whether he was hunting or casting a line in both fresh and saltwater. His commitment to wildlife conservation and outdoor heritage was evident through his lifetime memberships with the Traditional Bowhunters of Georgia and the National Wild Turkey Federation. He was also a member of Trout Unlimited and a proud sponsor of Quail Unlimited, Delta Waterfowl, and Ducks Unlimited. Additionally, he generously sponsored Pints for Prostates for many years.

Beyond the woods and water, Bill possessed a deep, quiet passion for the arts. Though he was private about sharing his talents in front of others, he found immense joy in collecting and playing guitars, as well as writing his own original music.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. William and Geneva Birdsong, and his father-in-law, Eugene Townsend.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 49 years, Marsha Birdsong; his daughters, Lea Birdsong Nelson (Christopher Nelson) and Drew Birdsong Bell (Alex Bell); and his cherished grandchildren, Nathan Bell (Mattie Maddox), Jaxon Bell, and Ivy Nelson. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Alma Townsend; his sister-in-law, Rhonda Townsend Milliken; his nephew, Matthew Milliken; his niece Virginia Milliken; and a host of cousins and dear friends.

A Celebration of Life honoring Bill will be held at New Haven Baptist Church on August 9, 2026, at 3:00 PM, with Pastor Samuel Lloyd officiating. The family will receive visitors prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the New Haven Baptist Church Building Fund in Bill's memory.

DRY BRANCH, GA - Lawrence “Larry” Franklin Wilder, 64, of Pineland Rd., passed away Monday July, 27, 2026 in Macon.

Services will be held Saturday August 1, 2026 at 12:30pm in Reece Funeral Home in Jeffersonville. Burial will be in Stone Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Tim Peavy will officiate.

Mr. Wilder was born in Macon, GA the son of the late John Wesley Wilder and Lobie Lyles Wilder. “Larry” was preceded in death by his daughter Lauren Wilder, and his brother George W. Kaegi. He was a graduate of Northeast High School Class of 1979. An avid bowler with several leagues in Macon. A welder with his own construction company and C & L Tire service. “Tiny” was a former Calcine Operator with Dry Branch Kaolin. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Macon, GA.

Survivors include his sons, Frank (Troy) Wilder of New Orleans, Wesley (LaQuida) Wilder of McDonough, and Shayne (Jarmeka) Wilder of Macon. His significate other, Leann Kimbler. His sister, Kitty Wilder of Florida. His six grandchildren, Brandon, Cameron, Kayden, Le’Azia, Lauryn, and Luka. Several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11:00AM to 12:30PM in the funeral home before services, and may be contacted at 495 Vista Circle, Macon, GA

MACON, GA - David Gehu Key III, 68, of Big Oak Rd., passed away Saturday July 25, 2026 in Macon.

Mr. Key was born in Macon, GA the son of the late David G. Key, Jr. and Ruby Palmer Key Turner. He was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents John Everett Palmer, Sr. and Ida Kate Grant Palmer and his Paternal Grandparents David G. Key Sr. and Sallie Louise Miller Key. David was an electrician, a mechanic, and jack of all trades. There was nothing he couldn’t fix. He was a member of Swift Creek Methodist Church.

Survivors include his loving wife Joanie Spence. His Children, Kellie Keough (Seth), Angeline Hagood (Chris), Karla Werkheiser (Andrew), and Mandy May (Joe). His Grandchildren, Macy Monteith, Kaitlyn Joyner, Savannah Hagood, Kaleb Williamson, Memphis Duisen, Trinity Duisen, Haley Joyner, Haley Kersey, Holly Werkheiser, Sydney Duisen, Lily May, Emmalynn Hagood, Harrison May, and Walker May. Jeffersonville, GA – Thomas Mark Hasty, 67, of Robert Hill Road, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2026 at his residence.

Services will be held Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Prospect Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. David Burnette and Rev. Mike Sapp will officiate.

Mr. Hasty was born in Macon, Ga, the son of the late Thomas H. “Bill” Hasty and Martha Grimsley Hasty, and was preceded in death by his grandson Mick Miskimen. Mark was a certified welder for Engelhard Kaolin for over 20 years in McIntyre Ga and he drove for several trucking companies prior to his retirement. He was a Methodist.

Survivors include his wife Pamela H. Hasty. His daughters Marie (Sean) Williams, Melody Layman, and Megan Hasty. His sister Melanie Rahn from Rincon Georgia. His eight grandchildren, Tyler Long, Hailey Hogan, Kylie Williams, Sean Williams II, ClaraAnne Williams, Erika (Austin) Taylor, Cheyenne Layman, and Timothy Layman. His great-grandchildren, Raelynn Long, Allie Long, and Asher Taylor. Several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Wednesday, July 29, 2026 in the funeral home.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved uncle/brother, James “Jim” Ritchey, who passed peacefully in the early morning hours of July 8, 2026.

Jim was a lifelong artist whose passion for comic books and illustration touched countless people. Throughout his career, he published artwork that reached audiences around the world, leaving behind a creative legacy that reflected his incredible imagination, talent, and love for the arts. In addition to his remarkable artistic abilities, Jim was also an avid music lover, finding joy, inspiration, and comfort through music throughout his life. Whether creating art or listening to his favorite songs, Jim embraced creativity in all its forms. He never stopped creating, and those who knew him understood that art wasn’t just something he did—it was who he was.

Jim is lovingly survived by his sisters, Lisa Naffis, Jan Shipskie, and Mimi Ritchey, along with dozens of nieces and nephews who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia J. Chastain; his father, Jim E. Ritchey; and his beloved sister, Lynn Ritchey. We find comfort in knowing they have been reunited.

A memorial service celebrating Jim’s life will be held in the near future. Details will be shared with close friends and family as they become available.

HADDOCK, GA - Cuyler Anthony Payne, 85, of Grey Fox Court, passed away Tuesday July 21,2026 at his residence.

Services will be held Thursday, July 23, 2026 at 4:00 pm, at the Gordon Methodist Church. Rev. Jason Dillard and Harold Reece, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Walnut Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic Rites.

Mr. Payne was born in Allentown, GA. The son of the late John Marion Payne and Hettie Howell Payne. He was the widower of the late Phyllis Kay Clarke Payne and was preceded in death by his son Anthony Clarke Payne and his brother John Derrick Payne. Cuyler was former Trooper with the Georgia State Patrol, and retired Chief of Police for the city of Gordon, GA and served as Probate Judge of Wilkinson County. Cuyler was a Mason and a Shriner. He was a member of The Gordon Methodist Church.

Survivors include his son John Stacy (Niccole) Payne. His sister Marian P. Beacham. Grandchildren, Anthony Clarke (Victoria) Payne II, Aiden Luke Payne and John Graham Payne. Great Grandchildren, Maveric Payne and Weston Payne. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 3:00pm-4:00pm in the Gordon Methodist Church.

JEFFERSONVILLE, GA - Tracy Dean Thompson, 47, of Hill and Dale Dr., passed away Monday, July 13, 2026 in Macon, GA.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Friday July 17, 2026 in Reece Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held Monday, July 20,2026 in Oaklawn Cemetery in Titusville, FL.

Tracy Dean Thompson was born September 11, 1978. He was the 8th child out of 9 born to Paul Thompson Jr and Judy Leedom Thompson. He was loved by many and was known as the fun uncle, He never had his own children but claimed Kaily Bennett-Stafford and Megan Bobbitt as his daughters and claimed Dylan Hoffert and Dillon Bobbitt as his sons. He was a diesel mechanic by trade and was known to travel to help a friend in need. He was known to help anyone who needed it. A few of his last words were, "I have fixed my last truck." He served in the National Guard for 6 years.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Judy Leedom Thompson Griffin, step father, Tracy Griffin, and stepmother, Oleta Mae Thompson. He is survived by his father, Paul Thompson Jr, his brothers; Paul (Nancy) Thompson III, Jesse (Jacqueline) Thompson, John (Kristi) Thompson, Shayne (Gloria) Thompson, Martin (Dajaun) Thompson, his sisters; Marjorie (Clarence) Loper, Samantha (Kim) Thompson, and Tiffany (Chuck) Nicholas. He is also survived by too many nieces and nephews to list.
