Yesterday, our team was in Washington, D.C. with the Home Care Association of America for Advocacy Day, alongside more than 120 home care leaders from across the country.

We met with legislators to advocate for the clients we serve and the remarkable professional caregivers who support them every day.

Expanding access to home care and improving affordability are critical for the families who rely on care at home. We’re grateful for the opportunity to help advance these conversations and to represent our community. 💙

Professional caregivers bring an extraordinary combination of skill, patience, and compassion to their work.

Providing care in someone’s home requires both professional training and a deep respect for the routines and preferences that make each household unique.

We are grateful for the ALTC family of caregivers who bring dedication and professionalism to the families we serve every day. 💙

Returning home after a hospital stay can bring a mix of relief and uncertainty for families.

Many families describe those first days at home as a period of adjustment while new routines begin to take shape.

Having a caregiver present during that time can help provide reassurance and confidence while families regain their confidence navigating recovery at home. 💙

Quality in home care is built on relationships.

As relationships develop, caregivers come to understand the routines, preferences, and personalities of the individuals they support. Those relationships create familiarity and trust within the home.

Some families work with caregivers for months, while others rely on support for years as care needs evolve.

These long-term relationships often become one of the most valued aspects of home care, allowing individuals to remain comfortably in the place they know best while receiving consistent, thoughtful support. 💙

Families turn to home care for many different reasons.

For some, it’s help with daily routines. For others, it’s companionship, safety, or simply knowing someone is there when support is needed.

At its best, home care allows individuals to remain in the place they feel most comfortable while receiving thoughtful, reliable support. 💙

Sometimes the turning point for families happens in a very small moment.

One client's wife described the moment she realized how helpful home care could be. After weeks of trying to manage everything themselves, she and her husband finally accepted help with a few daily tasks.

What surprised her most was how much calmer their home environment became once responsibilities were shared. Small changes can often have a powerful impact. 💙

Caring for someone with dementia can be incredibly demanding for families. Managing medications, safety concerns, and daily routines often becomes a full-time responsibility.

Programs like the CMS GUIDE Model are designed to assist families navigating dementia care while also providing respite support for caregivers. 💙

One question we hear often from families is this: how do you know when it might be time to explore home care?

Sometimes the signs appear gradually, such as:

• missed medications
• increased falls or balance concerns
• difficulty keeping up with meals or household tasks
• a family caregiver becoming increasingly exhausted

Recognizing these changes early allows families to consider support options thoughtfully rather than during a crisis. Starting the conversation early often helps families make decisions with greater clarity and confidence. 💙

A daughter recently shared that the most meaningful part of their home care experience wasn’t just the help with daily tasks — it was the companionship that developed between her father and the caregiver.

Gradually, those small daily interactions — conversations, shared meals, walks — became something everyone looked forward to.

Relationships like these are often what make home care feel truly supportive. 💙
