Completing physical therapy is a major milestone, but staying healthy requires continuing the habits that got you there.

Many injuries develop over time due to weakness, mobility limitations, poor movement patterns, or repetitive stress. Rehab helps address those issues, but long-term success comes from continuing to move, exercise, and care for your body.

The goal isn't just to get out of pain. It's to build strength, resilience, and confidence so you can stay active and reduce the risk of future setbacks.

That's why we focus on education and self-sufficiency, giving you the tools to keep progressing long after your treatment plan ends.

Recovery doesn't stop when therapy ends. It's the foundation for moving better for years to come.

Meet Dr. Kinsey Hillis (formerly Dr. Kinsey Duncan)! ✨

Dr. Kinsey is a physical therapist at Attain Physical Therapy who treats a wide range of orthopedic injuries and conditions. While she enjoys working with patients of all ages, she has developed a special interest in helping adolescent and young adult athletes recover from knee injuries and surgery, including ACL reconstruction, meniscus repairs, MPFL reconstruction, quadriceps tendon repairs, and other orthopedic knee procedures. After experiencing ACL rehabilitation herself following a high school injury, Kinsey understands firsthand the physical and mental challenges that come with recovery. She is passionate about providing individualized, evidence-based care and guiding athletes through every stage of rehabilitation—from the early postoperative phase to objective return-to-sport testing—so they can return to competition safely, confidently, and stronger than before.

Originally from Texas and a proud Longhorns fan (“Hook ‘em!”), Kinsey now calls Oklahoma home with her husband and their two dogs, Oakley and Sadie. Outside the clinic, she enjoys traveling, eating good food, shopping, staying active, and catching up on a well-earned nap whenever she can. She’s happiest spending time with her husband, family, friends, and her dogs, whether that’s trying a new restaurant, planning the next trip, or enjoying a laid-back weekend together.

⚠️ 5 Signs Your Body May Need Physical Therapy — Before Injury Happens

Pain isn’t the only signal your body gives. Watch for these early signs:
• Persistent stiffness or tightness
• Limited range of motion
• Frequent aches after normal activity
• Poor balance or instability
• Ongoing fatigue in certain muscles

Addressing these early can help prevent bigger issues down the road. Physical therapy isn’t just for recovery; it’s for staying strong, mobile, and pain-free.

👉 If something feels off, it’s worth checking out. Let’s keep you moving at your best.

Every patient has a story, and every treatment plan starts with listening.

All of our therapists take the time to understand what you're experiencing, evaluate how your body is moving, and identify the root cause of your symptoms. Because effective treatment isn't just about addressing pain, it's about understanding what's causing it in the first place.

Through personalized care, hands-on treatment, and patient education, our goal is to help you move better, feel stronger, and get back to doing what you love.

If pain, stiffness, or limited mobility is holding you back, we're here to help.

Today, we celebrate the dads who keep showing up. The ones who work hard, stay strong through challenges, and lead by example every day.

Whether you're coaching from the sidelines, fixing what’s broken, or simply being there when it matters most, your impact goes further than you know.

Wishing all the fathers, grandfathers, and father figures in our community a Happy Father's Day filled with family, laughter, and appreciation.

**Ice or Heat: Which Should You Use?**

The answer isn't as simple as "ice for injuries, heat for pain."

🧊 **Ice can help reduce pain.**
Research suggests ice may provide short-term pain relief after an acute injury, especially when swelling and pain are limiting movement. However, icing does not appear to significantly speed healing, and excessive icing may temporarily slow some of the body's natural recovery processes.

🔥 **Heat can help improve movement.**
Heat is often beneficial for stiff joints, tight muscles, and chronic aches. It increases blood flow, improves tissue extensibility, and may help you move more comfortably before activity or exercise.

So what should you choose?

**Use ice when:**
• A new injury is painful or throbbing
• Swelling is significant
• Pain is limiting your ability to move

**Use heat when:**
• Muscles feel tight or stiff
• You have chronic aches and pains
• You're preparing for exercise or activity

The most important thing to remember:

**Neither ice nor heat "heals" the injury.**

Movement, progressive loading, adequate sleep, and appropriate rehabilitation are what drive recovery.

If you're not sure what's causing your pain, or if it's not improving, a physical therapist can help identify the source and create a treatment plan specific to your goals.

Pain relief is helpful. A plan for recovery is even better.

Looks like a simple game. 👀⚽️

But every kick is working on:
✔️ Balance
✔️ Coordination
✔️ Motor planning
✔️ Strength
✔️ Reaction time

By calling out colors and changing targets, we’re challenging both the brain and body at the same time—helping build the movement skills needed for sports, play, and everyday activities.
