💚💙 Driving Stronger Communities, Together! 🤝⛳️

At Resource Management Services (RMS), our commitment to strengthening communities goes far beyond the services we provide. We believe that meaningful community involvement, collaboration, and strong partnerships are essential to making a lasting impact.

Through continued engagement and networking with local organizations, community leaders, and stakeholders, we strive to identify and address the emotional and behavioral health needs of the communities we serve.

Recently, RMS has been proud to support and participate in several community initiatives:

⛳️ Driving Stronger Communities Golf Tournament – Bringing people together, building relationships, and supporting initiatives that strengthen our local communities.

💙💛 McNeese State University Partnership – Strengthening our connection with McNeese and supporting opportunities that promote community engagement and collaboration. Geaux Pokes! 🤠

💚 NAMI Walk of Acadiana – Promoting mental health awareness, connecting individuals and families with valuable resources, and standing alongside community partners to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health.

🏅 Jeff Davis Parish Special Olympics – Proudly supporting an incredible event that celebrates inclusion, determination, and the accomplishments of individuals with intellectual disabilities.

At RMS, we recognize that meeting the emotional and behavioral needs of our communities takes more than one organization. It takes collaboration, compassion, and a shared commitment to making a difference.

We are grateful for the relationships we’ve built and look forward to continuing to work alongside community stakeholders to create stronger, healthier, and more connected communities.

💚 More than a provider. A partner in our community.

💚 You don’t have to wait until you’re struggling to take care of your mental health.

Mental health care can look like:

• Talking to someone before stress becomes overwhelming
• Learning healthier ways to cope with anxiety or difficult emotions
• Checking in when your medications don’t feel quite right
• Building better routines, boundaries, and coping skills
• Asking for help when life simply feels like a lot

Taking care of your mental health isn’t only about getting through a crisis. It’s about helping yourself feel and function better every day.

At Resource Management Services, we’re here for the everyday moments, the difficult seasons, and everything in between. 💚

💙 Some struggles aren’t always visible.

Depression and suicidal thoughts don’t always look the way we expect them to. Sometimes the warning signs are subtle—a change in sleep, withdrawing from friends, increased irritability, loss of interest, hopelessness, giving away possessions, or even an unexpected sense of calm after a period of significant distress.

Recognizing the signs can help us reach out sooner, listen more closely, and connect someone with the support they need.

Check on your people. Ask the difficult questions. Listen without judgment. And never be afraid to encourage someone to seek professional help.

💙 You matter. There is hope. Help is available.

If you or someone you know is experiencing suicidal thoughts or a mental health crisis:
📞 Call or text 988 — Su***de & Crisis Lifeline
🚨 If there is immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

💙 SEPTEMBER IS SU***DE PREVENTION MONTH 💙

Su***de prevention starts with connection, compassion, and conversation.

Sometimes the most important thing we can do is simply check in. Reach out to the people around you. Listen without judgment. Take changes in behavior seriously. Encourage professional support when it’s needed.

Warning signs may include:
• Feelings of hopelessness or being a burden
• Withdrawing from family and friends
• Significant changes in mood or behavior
• Increased alcohol or substance use
• Talking about death, dying, or su***de
• Giving away belongings or saying goodbye
• Sudden or unexplained changes after a period of distress

You do not have to wait for a crisis to ask for help.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis or having thoughts of su***de, call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. If there is immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

You can be doing everything “right” and still be struggling. 💚

High-functioning anxiety doesn’t always look like panic or falling apart. Sometimes it looks like staying busy, overthinking every decision, striving for perfection, taking care of everyone else, and appearing completely put together — while feeling overwhelmed on the inside.

Just because you’re functioning doesn’t mean you’re okay. And you don’t have to wait until things become unbearable to reach out for support.

At Resource Management Services, we’re here to help you navigate anxiety, stress, and the things that may not be visible to everyone else.

💊 ACCIDENTAL DOESN’T MEAN HARMLESS. Medication safety starts at home.

Accidental medication overdoses can happen more easily than many people realize. They may occur when someone forgets whether they already took a dose, combines medications containing the same active ingredient, mixes up similar-looking prescriptions, takes more medication than directed, or when a child accidentally gets into medication.

The good news is that many medication-related accidents are preventable with education, organization, and a few simple safety habits.

⚠️ NEVER TAKE MORE MEDICATION THAN PRESCRIBED.

If you feel like your medication isn’t working, your symptoms are getting worse, or you are struggling and feel like you need to take more than prescribed, do not increase your dose on your own. Contact your healthcare provider.

Taking an extra tablet, taking doses closer together, or increasing the amount of medication without medical guidance can be dangerous. Your provider can evaluate what you’re experiencing and determine whether your medication, dosage, or treatment plan needs to be adjusted.

💜 If you can’t remember whether you took your medication:
Don’t automatically take another dose. Check your medication instructions and contact your pharmacist or healthcare provider for medication-specific guidance.

💚 Pay attention to active ingredients.
Different over-the-counter cold, flu, allergy, pain, and sleep medications can contain the same active ingredient. Taking multiple products without realizing this can result in unintentionally taking too much. Always read medication labels carefully.

🧡 Keep medications secure around children.
Store prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and supplements securely and out of children’s sight and reach. Remember that purses, nightstands, countertops, backpacks, and easily accessible pill organizers may not be safe storage locations.

🏠 Think beyond your own home.
Grandparents, relatives, babysitters, and other caregivers should also practice medication safety. A home without young children living in it may not routinely be childproofed, making safe medication storage especially important when children visit.

👵 Help older adults prevent medication mix-ups.
Multiple prescriptions, changing dosages, similar-looking bottles, and medications from different providers can become confusing. Pill organizers, an updated medication list, and regular medication reviews with healthcare professionals can help.

🚫 Never share prescription medications.
A medication prescribed for one person may be inappropriate or dangerous for someone else—even when their symptoms seem similar.

📝 Keep an updated medication list.
Include prescription medications, over-the-counter products, vitamins, and supplements. Bring the list to healthcare appointments and make sure caregivers know where to find it.

🚨 If you suspect an accidental overdose or medication ingestion, don’t wait for symptoms to appear before seeking guidance.

☎️ Poison Control: 1-800-222-1222
🚑 For severe or life-threatening symptoms—including difficulty breathing, seizures, severe confusion, or loss of consciousness—call 911 immediately.

If possible, keep the medication bottle or packaging nearby so you can provide the medication name, strength, and other important information.

At Resource Management Services, we want our community to remember:

💊 More medication does NOT mean more relief.
✅ Take medications only as prescribed.
💜 If you’re struggling, talk to your provider—not your medicine cabinet.

If you or someone you know would like safe medication management or is in need of mental health treatment, contact Resource Management Services today!

📞 Lake Charles: 337-437-4014
📞 Lafayette: 337-261-8781

💚💜 Safe medications. Stronger communities.
Together, we can help prevent accidental medication overdoses.

🌺 RMS at the 2nd Annual SWLA Senior Karaoke Luau! 🌴🎶

Resource Management Services had a wonderful time attending the 2nd Annual SWLA Senior Karaoke Luau! We had the opportunity to engage with hundreds of seniors from across our community while connecting with fellow community resources, organizations, and providers. 💚

RMS was also happy to contribute large-print word puzzle and word-find books as door prizes—something fun to keep those minds active and engaged! 🧩📚

We’re grateful for opportunities like this that allow us to get out into the community, build meaningful connections, and share information about the mental health services and support available through RMS.

🌺 Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Senior Karaoke Luau such a great event!
