“How many friends will my child have?”

A parent asked me that during a conference. And I love that question because it’s honest.

I can’t promise your toddler will have five best friends by December. I don’t know that. Nobody does.

But here’s what I do know. Every single day, your child walks into a room where they’re loved, where they’re heard, where they’re spoken to in two languages like it’s the most natural thing in the world. Because it is.

We give them a bag of tools. Real tools. How to say what they feel. How to listen. How to sit with another kid and figure it out. How to be brave enough to try a word in Spanish they’ve never said before.
