Having a primary care provider who understands your full health picture β€” and who approaches your care without assumptions β€” makes a meaningful difference. Research indicates that LGBTQIA+ adults are less likely to have a regular primary care provider, often due to prior experiences in healthcare settings that made returning feel difficult.

At NJ Primary Care, our providers offer inclusive primary care that includes confidential STD testing, PrEP and PEP counseling and management, anxiety and depression screening, routine bloodwork, and wellness visits. All patients are seen without judgment. If you are looking for a new primary care provider, we are currently accepting new patients at our Jersey City locations.

If it has been more than a year since your last physical, now is a good time to schedule one. Annual wellness visits give your doctor the opportunity to review your blood pressure, bloodwork, and overall health while you are feeling well β€” not only when something feels wrong.

Many health conditions develop without noticeable symptoms, which is why routine check-ins play an important role in preventive care. NJ Primary Care is accepting new patients at our Jersey City Downtown and Journal Square offices.

Call us or book online at njprimary.com to schedule your appointment.

Healthcare works best when you feel safe enough to be honest with your provider.

For many LGBTQIA+ individuals, that kind of safety isn't always easy to find. Past experiences of discrimination, providers who don't understand, or environments that feel unwelcoming can make people avoid care altogether β€” and that has real consequences for long-term health.

At NJ Primary Care in Jersey City, inclusive healthcare isn't a talking point. It's woven into how we work every day.

Our latest blog covers:
🏳️🌈 Why LGBTQIA+ health requires affirming, culturally competent care
🏳️⚧️ How primary care supports transgender and gender-diverse patients
πŸ’š Mental and emotional well-being as part of routine care
🩺 Preventative screenings, sexual health, and long-term wellness planning
🀝 What a truly welcoming healthcare environment looks like
Jersey City's LGBTQIA+ community deserves care that meets them where they are β€” without judgment, without assumptions, and without having to fight to be respected.

Staying on top of your health throughout the year takes some planning, and mid-year is a practical time to check in and make sure the basics are covered. An annual physical, recent blood work, a blood pressure reading within the last 90 days, confirmation of vaccination status, a travel health appointment if you have an international trip coming up, a review of any current prescriptions, an honest assessment of your mental health, and a conversation with your provider about any new or ongoing symptoms are all worth addressing before the year goes further. NJ Primary Care is here to help you work through this list.

A travel health appointment at NJ Primary Care is designed to address the key health steps that many travelers overlook before an international trip.
This includes reviewing whether your routine vaccines are current, providing destination-specific immunizations where applicable, discussing malaria or other regional disease prevention, helping you put together a travel health kit, and connecting you with a provider who has experience in travel medicine.

Booking four to six weeks before your departure gives enough time for any necessary vaccinations to be properly administered. If you have an upcoming trip, reach out to schedule your appointment at

High blood pressure affects a large portion of adults in New Jersey, and many people are unaware they have it because the condition typically develops without noticeable symptoms.

There are no headaches, no warning signs, and no indication before a cardiovascular event occurs. The only reliable way to know your blood pressure status is to have it checked by a healthcare provider.

At NJ Primary Care, a blood pressure reading is quick and straightforward. If you have not had yours checked recently, scheduling a visit is a practical step toward staying informed about your health.

Many people wonder whether allergy testing and treatment can fully eliminate their symptoms. The short answer is that treatments such as immunotherapy, commonly known as allergy shots, are designed to help manage and reduce the severity of allergic reactions over time.

They may not provide a complete cure for everyone, but the goal is to help patients experience fewer and less intense symptoms so that daily life becomes more manageable. If you have been dealing with ongoing allergy symptoms, speaking with a primary care provider is a good first step toward understanding your options.

Not every health concern requires a trip to the office. NJ Primary Care offers online video visits that allow you to speak with a healthcare provider from your home, workplace, or wherever you happen to be. A video visit can be used to evaluate symptoms, address conditions that do not require a physical examination or lab testing, discuss prescription refills, and receive referrals when needed.

Common concerns that can be managed through a video visit include cold and flu symptoms, sinus infections, allergies, COVID-19 related issues, STD concerns, and lower back or neck pain. Please note that some medical situations do require in-person care, and controlled medications cannot be prescribed to new patients during a video visit.

To schedule your online appointment, visit njprimary.com/telemedicine or call (201) 241-3769. Most major insurance plans are accepted.

Childhood immunizations play an important role in protecting children from preventable diseases. Vaccines help the immune system recognize and respond to specific infections safely and effectively.

At NJ Primary Care, we provide age-appropriate immunizations based on recommended schedules. During your child’s visit, our providers review vaccination history, answer questions, and ensure your child is up to date for school or daycare requirements.

Routine immunizations help protect not only your child, but also the broader community.

Schedule your child’s appointment online or contact our office for availability.
