FACT: Therapy can also help young people build the skills they need to navigate everyday life with more confidence and resilience.

Seeking help isn't a sign that something is "wrong." It's a proactive step toward emotional well-being.

If you've ever wondered whether therapy might be a good fit for your teen or young adult, we're here to answer your questions—without pressure or judgment.

💚 Wednesdays with TreOnna!

Before we talk about therapy...I thought it'd be fun to share a few things that make me smile. 😊

After all, therapists are people, too!

✨ Here are 5 Things That Make Me Smile:
☕ A great cup of coffee
🐾 Time with family, friends, or pets
🌿 Italian food
📚 Getting lost in a good book
🎶 1970s R&B

It's often the little things that help us slow down, recharge, and reconnect.

I'd love to know—what's one small thing that makes you smile? Share it in the comments! Your answer might brighten someone else's day.

And if you're watching this as a teen, here's a reminder: you don't have to have everything figured out before talking to a therapist. We start with conversations just like this—getting to know each other, one small step at a time. 💚

Parenting Tip Monday 💚

Anger is often the emotion we see—but not the emotion underneath.

Teens don't always have the words to express anxiety, embarrassment, sadness, disappointment, or fear. Sometimes those feelings come out as irritability, shutting down, or anger instead.

Rather than asking, "Why are you acting like this?" consider asking:
💚 "You seem really overwhelmed. What's been going on?"
💚 "Is something making today especially hard?"
💚 "How can I help?"

Curiosity often opens more doors than criticism.

Every behavior tells a story. Taking a moment to understand what's beneath the surface can strengthen trust and communication over time.

💚 Parenting isn't about having all the answers—it's about staying connected. If your family could use additional support, the team at Ellie Mental Health Johns Creek is here to help.

If I could tell every teen one thing, it would be this...

You don't have to have everything figured out right now.

It can feel like everyone else has a plan, knows exactly who they are, or has life all together—but that's rarely the whole story.

Growing up comes with questions, mistakes, changes, and challenges. It's okay to feel uncertain sometimes. It's okay to ask for help. And it's okay if your path doesn't look like someone else's.

You are learning, growing, and becoming the person you're meant to be—and that takes time.

In today's video, I share one message I hope every teen carries with them: Your worth isn't measured by your grades, your achievements, your social media followers, or having all the answers. Your worth comes from simply being you.

💚 If you're a parent, what's one piece of advice you hope your teen remembers as they grow? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

Parenting Tip Monday 💚

Sometimes your teen doesn't need advice—they need to know you're listening.

When your child shares something difficult, it's natural to want to solve the problem right away. But jumping into solutions can sometimes make them feel unheard.

Instead, try asking:
💚 "Tell me more about that."
💚 "What was the hardest part?"
💚 "How can I support you right now?"

These questions create space for connection and show your teen that their thoughts and feelings matter.

The goal isn't to have the perfect response—it's to let them know they're not alone.

💚 Parenting isn't about having all the answers—it's about staying connected. If your family could use additional support, the team at Ellie Mental Health Johns Creek is here to help.

If your teen's favorite answer is "Fine," don't take it personally.

Sometimes the simplest question—"How was your day?"—is also the hardest to answer.

Try asking about one specific moment instead. Questions like:
💚 What made you smile today?
💚 What was the hardest part of your day?
💚 What's something you're excited about this weekend?

Small changes in how we ask can open the door to bigger conversations.

Have you found a question that gets your teen talking? Share it below—you might inspire another parent!

💚 Wednesdays with TreOnna!

Therapy isn't like the movies. 🎬

Many teens (and adults!) imagine therapy as lying on a couch while someone silently takes notes or asks endless questions about their childhood.

The reality is much different.

Therapy is simply a conversation—a safe space where you can be yourself without fear of judgment.

One of the questions I hear most often is:
"What if I don't know what to say?"

The good news is...you don't have to come in with all the answers. It's my job to help guide the conversation at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Sometimes we talk.
Sometimes we laugh.
Sometimes we sit quietly for a moment.
Sometimes we learn new skills for managing stress, anxiety, or big emotions.

There's no "right" way to do therapy.

If you've ever been curious about what therapy is really like, I hope this video helps take away some of the mystery.

💬 What's one question you've always had about therapy? Leave it in the comments or send us a private message. It might even inspire a future Wednesdays with TreOnna or Friday Mental Health Minute post!

Parenting Tip Monday 💚

Therapy isn't just for moments of crisis.

Many parents assume they should wait until things become "serious enough" before reaching out for support. The truth is, therapy can be most effective when it's used as a tool for growth—not just crisis management.

A therapist can help teens and young adults learn skills to:
✔️ Manage stress
✔️ Navigate friendships
✔️ Build confidence
✔️ Regulate emotions
✔️ Improve communication
✔️ Cope with life transitions

Seeking support early can help prevent small struggles from becoming bigger ones.

You don't need to have all the answers before asking for help. Sometimes the first conversation is simply about understanding what your child is experiencing.

💚 Parenting isn't about having all the answers—it's about staying connected. If your family could use additional support, the team at Ellie Mental Health Johns Creek is here to help.
