Tell all yo little undergraduate friends:

I am writing to let you and your students know about a Pre-Med Emergency & Wilderness Medicine Program offered by the University of Colorado School of Medicine. This nearly two week program provides an overview of the medical profession, coaching on the medical school (and other health professions) admissions process, and an introduction to emergency and wilderness medicine. It includes Emergency Department shadowing with attending physicians, EMS ride-alongs, CPR and optional Wilderness First Responder certification, labs, a score of lectures by medical school faculty, and a camp experience at 9000 feet in the Rocky Mountains. No experience is needed and it is open to any pre-med undergraduate or recent grad. The program runs three different times during intersessions (January, May-June, and August) to make it convenient for college students.
We are offering at least three full ride, need-based scholarships for each of the three sessions and we are particularly interested in attracting African American students. Please help your students by passing on this information regarding the unique program. More information, including the very short and simple scholarship form, can be found at our web site (http://www.coloradowm.org/undergraduate_courses.html). Or you or students are encouraged to contact the program’s Education Director, Dr. Todd Miner at [email protected].

Don't forget to RSVP for kayaking and marsh cleanup this weekend. Looks like Sunday is going to be a great warm day to get out on the water. Perfect way to spend the day after filling your body with trash at Alahambra is to get rid of some trash in the water around Charleston. In all things, balance.

We'll be leaving from the Shem Creek Coastal Expeditions (who were kind enough to donate some single and tandem kayaks) Sunday at noon and paddling through the creek picking up all the garbage we come across. We will have all the boats and life jackets taken care of, so just wear comfortable, water-friendly clothes and don't forget sun protection! We will have an experienced kayaker on hand for some safety tips and instruction for any beginners or first-timers who show up.

To RSVP, email Colin Kane at [email protected] and please be timely so we can make things easier on Costal Expeditions.
