By 3pm, they've given everything they had at school. There's nothing left to run on.
Some schools have lunch as early as 10am β by pickup, your kid's gone hours without eating.
How many times last year did you hear "Mom, there's nothing to eat"? Even with a full fridge and a kid with an empty stomach.
Tip #2: Keep snacks prepped, portioned, and ready to grab β before anyone's hungry. Get the kids involved if that works for your family: make a list of foods you know they'll eat, let them pick a few each week, and have them help wash, cut, and portion. Kids reach for what they helped choose.
Portion snacks into serving-sized bags and give them a designated spot in the fridge or pantry. When there's a real answer to "what can I have," the fridge-door standoff ends.
Easy options:
π Sliced apples
π Grapes (halved for littles)
π Bananas
π Oranges
π« Berries
π§ Cheese sticks
π₯ Veggies with dip
πΎ Granola
π₯£ Yogurt or cottage cheese with fruit
Treats count too β just portion a serving of cookies or chips alongside something like fruit or cheese.
Pack a bag for pickup line, or leave it in the fridge for after school. Less deciding in the moment, less chaos at 3pm.
