Adult and Teen Challenge began with one recovery home in NYC in 1958, and today there are over 1400 ATC worldwide. The Adult & Teen Challenge Vermont recovery program was established in 2005 by now-Senior Director Richard Welch. In 2019, we opened the Adult & Teen Challenge Northern New England Women's Home, the first long-term r

ecovery program of its kind in Vermont. Our 10-12 month program serves men and women ages 18 and up, with an option for an additional 12 months of aftercare and even an opportunity to use the available transitional housing component to help make the transition seamless and successful. At Adult & Teen Challenge Vermont, we believe that true recovery stems from addressing the root causes of addiction. Our experienced and dedicated team of professionals combines evidence-based therapies with the transformative power of Christian principles. Surrounded by the beauty of nature, our serene residential facility offers a safe and supportive environment. Engage in therapeutic activities such as Biblical classroom instruction, chapel and worship services, clinical counseling, outdoor recreation, vocational training, staff mentoring, and more, all designed to provide an atmosphere for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual development. There’s something powerful about coming together—sharing stories, strengthening bonds, and remembering that we’re part of a mission far bigger than any one campus.
What a blessing to have Mike Duarte from the Vermont center preach today, bringing a message of hope, unity, and purpose that resonated with everyone in the room. Moments like this remind us how strong we are when we stand shoulder‑to‑shoulder.

Celebrating Growth at Adult & Teen Challenge Vermont!
Just a couple of the inspiring five-minute message presentations from Monday afternoon — Nathan shared his very first message from Psalm 23:1–3, reminding us that the Lord is our Shepherd who restores our souls. Wyatt followed with a heartfelt word from Genesis 4:10, calling us to listen when God speaks.

We’re so proud of these men for stepping up, sharing truth, and letting God’s Word shape their hearts and voices. Every message is a victory — a testimony of transformation and courage!

Special thank you to Tour de Slate for putting on such a fantastic fundraiser for Adult & Teen Challenge. The weather was perfect, the rides were beautiful, the supporters were fired up, and the food was amazing. Events like this take serious effort, coordination, and heart — and you brought all of it. Today we are excited. A huge thank‑you to Shane, and everyone who built the new ramps for the dining hall in the main building, making the space fully chair‑accessible for everyone on the property. Your hard work and care didn’t just improve a building — you strengthened our community.

Because of your dedication, Matt was able to join us for meals and fellowship right in the dining hall, surrounded by friends, laughter, and the warmth of being together. Seeing him there with all of us was a beautiful reminder of why accessibility matters and how much love can be built with lumber, sweat, and willing hands.

What a beautiful weekend of fellowship. Our team is deeply grateful to Swanton Christian Church and Elmore United Methodist Church for welcoming us and allowing us to share our message of hope and healing. Your generosity, kindness, and encouragement mean so much to the men we serve.
